Disability Claimants lose their cars in cuts

I saw this on ITV news last night, and feel so strongly about the issue I would like to highlight it to others.

www.itv.com/news/2015-03-13/disability-cuts-start-to-bite-those-who-need-it-most/

Basically, in the new assessments for PIP thousands of people with disabilities are being reassessed at a lower level though their circumstances haven't changed, and they are having their cars taken from them so will have no independence to travel. This is happening to my friend who has to return her car to Motability in two weeks (she was given three weeks notice). She cannot even leave the house without her car as she lives on a hill, can't take her children to their school, and is losing her independence.

I feel so sad that the Government makes all these cuts on people with disbilities (like the bedroom tax), and people are losing their independence to be a part of society. It really doesn't seem fair. Not everyone can access a bus.

Disgusting. My DB has a motorbility vehicle and would be screwed without it. He previously was without it for a few weeks whilst it was being repaired, and could get to work. The "taxi allowance" he was offered per week was enough to get to work and half way back, once a week. Pathetic.

He's unlikely to lose his, but I feel so sorry for those who are not so lucky!

With cuts cutting in everywhere in surprised to see motability still operating at all

For us it will mean my disabled exh won't be able to travel to see his dc

without her wav my dd would be housebound.
yet nothing on the news or anywhere about this

I'm already working with clients who are losing their mobility and/or care in the DLA to PIP migration despite them not having miraculously recovered. Yet some people still see benefits as a life style choice.

If anyone knows of someone (especially disabled people) who are suffering at the hands of some DWP for claiming benefits, do look up Fightback4Justice:

The irony is our council is trying to stop home-school transport on the basis that people with a disabled child get mobility Hmm.
