i read this earlier and ended up in tears. the poor little mites.

belgo · 28/10/2006 10:27

Finally they have a cause of their deaths. After so much speculation that initially led to the parents being blamed as some sort of suicide pact. That poor family.

Yes, really a tragedy.

charliecat · 28/10/2006 10:46

Did you see the bolier on the news? It looked awful, orange stuff running down it, leaking water or somehting.

Flamesparrow · 28/10/2006 10:57

To not be with your children when they died (the mother), and for the father to have survived... he would want to swap his place for theirs

One thing that I do think though - CM poisoning would at least mean that they went to sleep... not like the earlier mushroom suggestion.

DelGhoul · 28/10/2006 11:03

this is so awful

thoughts are with the parents, god how does someone take news like that it's just terrible

zippitippitoes · 28/10/2006 11:21

I find it so strange that people are still staying in that hotel complex..if one boil;er is faulty then surely others might be badly maintained too.. and there is talk of it being covered up to protedt tourism

I feel so sorry for them and particularly the impication that it was a suicide and murder and said earlier in the week very unlikely to be carbon monoxide...poor family

it powuld put me off some of these hotels too

ssd · 28/10/2006 11:39

can't imagine how their mum must be feeling, she probably waved them off and was looking forward to seeing them again. and then to get this news. too too awful, the poor woman.

foxtrot · 28/10/2006 11:43

I just read that their mum had spent halfterm redecorating their bedrooms as a suprise

PretendFiend · 28/10/2006 11:54

I assumed it was carbon monoxide as soon as I heard about this - I hadn't heard any murder-suicide speculation, just the stuff about the mushrooms and that they missed dinner the night before - as if they'd be off in the woods eating mushrooms

One of the people staying in the place was reported as saying that the people who stayed in that bungalow last week were unwell too, headaches or something? They will be wishing they had followed it up now, poor things.

Terrible for everybody concerned

Smurfgirl · 28/10/2006 12:00

I have stayed in those bungalows at that hotel and they are grim. What a tragic story

NAB3 · 28/10/2006 12:12

I read yesterday that the previous occupant of that bungalow was taken out in a wheelchair to hospital!!

On the news it has been confirmed it was carbon monoxide poisoning and about 5 people are facing criminal charges.

How many of YOU have carbon monoxide alarms?? Just as vital as a smoke alarm.

We have 1 CM alarm and 4 smoke alarms.

satine · 28/10/2006 12:17

Poor, poor family. I can't imagine what they are going through, and what they'll face over the next few years.

I find it hard to believe that other holiday makers are still in the surrounding bungalows - I would have been out of that hotel so fast I'd have been a blur.

SherlockLGJ · 28/10/2006 12:24

It is part of the alarm system, good old ADT.

sarahalloween · 28/10/2006 12:37

The family are from just down the road from us (don't know them)and it's so so sad. I was actually relieved to hear that it wasn't a suicide attempt as I spent a lot of yesterday really thinking about how desperate you must have to be to do that.
We have a CM alarm plus a house full of mains running smoke alarms. I used to tease DH about being obsessed but I think I shall just be thankful now .

northerner · 28/10/2006 14:09

You know when a news story really bugs you, this has really got under my skin. I can't stop thinking about tose poor kids, and how their Dad will feel when they tall him, and their poor, poor mum

To not be with your kids when this happenned would eat you up for the rest of your life. Such a terrible tragedy.

We don't have a CM alarm, but I will get one sharpish.

noonar · 29/10/2006 12:05

this is just tragic.

can anyone think of a single reason why the hotel has not been shut down, and why on earth people are still choosing to stay there? i'd rather sleep on the street till my flight home. it's unbelievable.
