Is just about to be announced. It has now been revealed that he was also initially charged with viewing child pornography images and visiting child porn sites , as well as the sexual assault charges, but his lawyers successfully had these charges dropped as they would 'infect the case'. Whys it taking so long ?

Doesn't mitigation at a sentencing hearing refer to circumstances which affect the length of sentence?

So things like guilty plea (not applicable) or signs of contrition can lead to a sentence at the shorter end of the guidelines. State of health may be relevant.

Any lawyers know if things like balance of length of sentence against life expectancy is considered? 10 years for a 40 yo is quite a different prospect to 10 years when you are 85.

Also, he is main carer for his wife (but I guess that's not relevant in sentencing?)

Accounts of judge's sentencing remarks sounds as if age/health going in his favour. Lack of remorse and taking advantage of celebrity going against.

Hope they dont go easy on him because of his age/health.

I cant belive it. The judge has showed consideration for his age but what about the poor little seven year old and all the other people's lives hes ruined.no consideration for theirs.

Pat St Clement was just on Loose Women, saying that she though there should be a time limit on these offences coming to court, and talking about young girls in the 60s "throwing themselves" at boys in bands. What is she on? One of these children was 7 years old ffs. And the child abuse images? How does she explain that away with the "good work he did for animal charities". Am . I was waiting for the news and saw that snippet.

Rolf Harris wasn't anything even close to being a "boy" when these offenses took place. There's a massive culture of child abuse in showbiz IMO, and this comment from Pat Clementt just reinforces that.

There is a great likelihood he will die in prison - but I feel sad that the sentence isn't longer to ensure he does.

Awful man. I cannot even imagine what his victims feel, but I thought he was a marvellous man. Makes you question your belief in anyone.
