What do you think of the baby in the t shirt? Do you think the concerned passer by was right or wrong?

Here.

I detest seeing babies and young dcs out in inappropriate clothing. I do know it can sometimes be a battle to get them to wear coats etc..
However I saw the mother and baby in question on the news today and baby was wearing a snow suit and seemed happy to do so? So why no coat or suchlike on the day the police were called?

It is OTT though to call the police. Much better to approach the parent and maybe question them? Although the concerned passer by may have been scared to do so?

I can't understand a baby being out in a t shirt in winter it baffles me.

The baby was wearing a vest and a fleece, not a t shirt. A fleece is an entirely acceptable replacement for a coat in most weather.

Says in the article a fleece top? That's not so bad so I can't understand the concern at all now? They said long sleeved t shirt on the tv.

She's right about the police taking their time over much more serious matters.

I don't see the issue and I cant believe someone honestly thought it was a reason to call 999 and the police actually acted on it.

My son sometimes runs around in this weather in just jumper. I'm around carrying his coat, he is never cold. If a police officer came to me saying that someone had phoned 999 on me because ne didn't have a coat on I would honestly think the officer was either on something or it was a hidden camera prank

The baby was wearing a fleece. My children often go out in a fleece instead of a coat. I think it was a ridiculous call to the police.

It's so bizarre! Why would this be reason to call the police?! Confused

It said that they were waiting in the car and the baby got bored and wanted to come out. There has been a lot of press lately about how dangerous it is to put a baby in a carseat with a thick coat or snowsuit on so it makes perfect sense in that context, it sounds like they were not planning to get out of the car until little one got fidgety and then it was only going to be for a short time. Obviously the passer by didn't know that but calling 999 was a massive overreaction imo.

To be fair to the police on response time - they probably didn't know until they got there that she was wearing a fleece. The 999 caller might have said she was wearing practically nothing. I don't think it's wrong for the police to respond quickly (more quickly than to reports of yobs) to a call about neglect of a baby.

Asking for a name and address is fairly standard practice - it isn't required that you tell them, but they never know when it might come in handy to know who they spoke to wear and when, and it helps hold them to account.

I hate it. My children have always flung their clothes off in all weathers, always did and still do. I make judgements about whether it is dangerous or not and whether to have the battle with them. If some nosy bod called the police I would be furious.
