5 women discussing the problem, no men to be seen.

How is this exclusively a female issue?

Shock we have mountains to climb. Not even a token male. Meh

PacificDogwood · 29/11/2013 19:20

Only you and and I pissed off about this then, ghost Hmm

I & my childminding husband are concerned about childcare too - but I'm likely to be more vocal about it Wink

But we aren't in Scotland

PacificDogwood · 29/11/2013 20:37

Ok, so now we're 3 Grin

I wonder whether any man following the arrival of his baby has ever been asked "Are you returning to work?" and "What will you do for childcare?"
That's mum's problem, natch.

I listened to Jeremy vine today talking about paternity. There is no hope. Too many women against it. Sad

KatyMac · 29/11/2013 22:02

I went back to work when DD was 4.5m

DH pushed DD up to my office everyday for DD to feed; we are unusual

scottishmummy · 01/12/2013 15:48

My do wasnt asked about his employment after we had dc,I was.always by women
My dp was never subject to the face, the precious moments speech,or criticised
I got jip from women, not a peep from men.some women are ghastly to working mums

annieorangutan · 01/12/2013 15:56

Dh had 4 months off when dd1 born. He wrnt to every antenatal, nursery, medical appointment with both of ours. We are 100% equal in every way when it comes to the children. Dh and his friends have all discussed childcare options with each other.

PacificDogwood · 01/12/2013 20:28

Katy and annie, both your set-ups sound great Smile.
There's just not enough like them IMO.

And I remain appalled that the issue was discussed on national TV, a 'Special' no less due to the impendind Referendum, without even a token male.

At least us wimmin know were we stand, I suppose... Hmm

I also find it more than dubious how the childcare issue is being used as a vote puller - a promise that may or may not be kept afterwards.

It weird how acceptable an inequality it seems to be. Why shouldn't men get included in childcare discussions. Did it not occur to any one in the production team to get a male perspective? I am curiou about the dynamics of that team.

scottishmummy · 02/12/2013 23:13

stereotypical arrangements eg dad ft work, mum pt work serve to reinforce roles/expectation
Yes men need to be equal parents, and women need to not slip into parenting=Wummins work
Read it on mn all time.woman gives up work, man carries on work uninterrupted

PacificDogwood · 03/12/2013 16:58

dad ft work,mum pt work

That's us, sm, that's us.
And I don't even mind, I quite enjoy my work/life balance, but I hate contributing to the stereotype Hmm
