It is wholly unacceptable for women who are post birth (be that natural, c-section, non-eventful or traumatic) to have sales reps come round and ask them for their details in return for a bag of free stuff (that contains very little and most of the vouchers are for the branded/more expensive products)
Allowing mobility sales reps onto the orthopaedic ward and Toys R Us sales reps onto the children's ward would cause outrage, so why is it deemed acceptable with women who have just gone through childbirth?
Also, the Bounty ladies are lovely if you comply. If you don't then there are many, many stories of women being pestered and told untruths (ie you must sign up to get child benefit forms) and not realising they could opt out of their details being sold to 3rd parties.
Of course people are going to say they had a lovely experience with them, that's fine. There are many more with awful stories (including myself - not awful but pestered to distraction and this was just 14 weeks ago!)
For me, it boils down to getting sales reps out of the maternity ward. It makes a mockery of what should be a safe and secure environment where you are able to bond/learn about and care for your new baby.
Bounty's stance is that Mumsnet is just after it's business as they are competitors. Only they're not as I'm not sure Justine has been seen dispensing nipple cream to exhuasted new mums!
I'm just summarising of course, there are many threads discussing this (and also it's not just Mumsnet there are many others who are up in arms) Have a look and read for yourself and you should get a clearer understanding.
