Election results - has your council changed party?

ours has gone from Tory to Lib Dem (bucking the trend!)

Was quite surprised to see Ealing has gone Tory.

The govt is reshuffling as we speak although it seems a bit like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.

Richmond went Lib Dem?!?! Oh dear.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/05/2006 14:37

Stoke now a hung council (prev Labour) The BNP gained 3 seats and now have 5 out of 60 Sad

GDG · 05/05/2006 14:45

Uwila - you need to move here - true blue every time Grin

Uwila · 05/05/2006 15:10

Where is "here"?

GDG · 05/05/2006 15:12

Borough is Trafford (Gtr Manchester/Cheshire)

PiccadillyCircus · 05/05/2006 15:12

No elections here, so no change.

Uwila · 05/05/2006 15:14

Don't suppose I could find a jon in IT management / oil industry there.

So, I'll probably have to stick with London. Was very pleased that Ealing and Hammersmith/Fulham went Tory.

sunandmoon · 05/05/2006 15:22

Why are you surprise Foxinsocks about Ealing going Tory? Our streets are getting dirtier (Labour made an effort in the last 2 weeks because the chewing gums have been washed out the pavements!!!), and Labour wanted the tram outside our doorsShockShock...

GDG · 05/05/2006 15:23

Is that legal? Don't they have to conduct a run off or something?

We have NOC (usually labour) and 5 BNP councillors out of 60.

mrsbang · 05/05/2006 16:25

oops, just seen that saggarmakersbottomknocker already posted.

(fab name btw)

foxinsocks · 05/05/2006 18:21

I was quite keen on the tram when I lived in Hammersmith. Would have been quite convenient for me! I also wanted crossrail once we moved to this borough but it seems no-one else round here wanted it!

Ealing such a bellweather (or is it bellwether?) borough - apart from 1986, the majority party after Ealing elections has gone on to form the next national government so I guess that's great news for the Tories.

No chanage in here (Worcester), although only a third of seats were up for election. So I didn't get a chance to vote.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 06/05/2006 11:18

Hello mrsbang Smile

mrsbang · 06/05/2006 11:20

Hello!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 06/05/2006 11:25

Were you someone else before mrsbang? I take it that you live in Stoke/Staffs?

I'm in the north heading out towards Leek.

mrsbang · 06/05/2006 11:59

I'm fairly new, was v briefly ma2cra.

Yes, I'm from north Staffs, south end of the city.

suejonez · 06/05/2006 16:25

I'm in Richmond too - wasn't surprised when I met the Tory woman canvassing by Kew gardens tube station.
"like a leaflet?"
"like a leaflet?"
"like a leaflet?"

Everyone ignored her, she was so insipid.

suejonez · 06/05/2006 16:26

That should say ...I wasnt surprised "Richmond when Lib Dem" when ...

shampoo · 07/05/2006 20:18

The lib dem candidate for our area posted the same leaflet twice through our letterbox.

On both occasions we were in.

The leaflet began "Sorry you were not in when I called......"

Did she ring the doorbell to check whether we were?

No.

So our conclusion was she is a lazy cow.

slug · 08/05/2006 14:45

Grin shampoo. The Lib Dems sent us some campaigning material that was so badly written that I've used it as teaching material for my A level students and I've also written them a letter back pointing out all their gramatical errors.

They did NOT get my vote.

mrsbang · 09/05/2006 00:11

First useful thing I've ever seen come out of canvassing for the local elections. :)
