The text exchange between Chris Huhne and his son was so sad. No parent-child relationship should ever break down like that, although I can completely see why this one did.

I wonder why she took the points, really, at the time.

Not in any way excusing the man, but I can kind of see how it happened.

In the middle of an election, working all the hours in the day campaigning, on the road together, and presumably in love at the time...

I can kind of see why she felt she had to take the points, and I can possibly even glimpse why he might have felt so much pressure to keep his driving licence so he could keep on the campaign trail.

I feel some sympathy for him. Not much though and it's completely unjustified. I'm just in an oddly charitable mood today.

He and Carina haven't been having much luck in court, have they? Perhaps they should stop fibbing.

Reminded me of this thread a few weeks ago where quite a lot of people were saying they WOULD take the points in this sort of situation.

bramshott that's probably why I feel slightly sorry for him. It's common but who can tell how it's going to turn out?

I'm interested to know whether Pryce will change her plea. How can she plead not guilty now he's admitted the offence? A guilty plea from her was the thing hanging over his head some months ago.

Oh well, we'll have to wait and see. I'm sure she's getting good advice. Better than the original advice, anyway.

I just can't think of those texts without feeling unhappy for the lot of them, including him tbh.

He has made a selection of truly awful decisions leading to this. How can his relationship with his son come back from that? Even in private it would be so hard and now with it all played out in public and the ppssibility of both mother and father being imprisoned.

Just musing... I could not do my job without a car, DH could - I am going out on a limb here, but I am quite sure if I suggested he took the blame for some speeding I did, he'd tell me were to go in no uncertain terms. And I think he'd be right tbh.

When I got clocked for speeding, a number of people suggested I could swap with dh. Not that there was even any issue about being near the max, as I had a clean licence. I'd never have considered it, but as it happened I checked the speed camera photo on line and it was me, with ds next to me, clear as day.

Had to come on to vent here as was tempted to tweet and then thought better of it. What a f*cking Twunt Chris Hulne is.

He reminds me of my stbx who once tried to get me to take his points as after all he was far more important than me. Anyone who has the slightest idea about EA would completely understand why his wife took the points, high flier or not. As for those texts between him and his son they just illustrate how these twunts believe that their actions have no consequences. A few placations and they think they've got away with it.

I hope he gets jailed and hope his family can get over this.

The only sympathy I feel for Huhne is that none of us knows what made Vicky Pryce allegedly take the points in 2003.

All I can say is that things have changed in the intervening years.

Clam it is viewed as a very serious offence. I really think he will be jailed.

He'll have plenty of time and opportunity to think about what a twat he's been then.
