Twiglett · 21/04/2006 18:12

because I find the blanket coverage on TV and papers and sites quite irritating

Don't give a flying whatsit.

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 18:12

No

I couldn't give a shiney shite how old she is

She doesn't get any cheaper Grin

tamum · 21/04/2006 18:12

Nope.

biglips · 21/04/2006 18:14

not really as havent watched the telly about her

my nin was born 3 weeks before the Queen was born

cod · 21/04/2006 18:14

no]
effin royal family

when she dies ia m leaving the counrty for 2 weeks

Ledodgy · 21/04/2006 18:15

No I don't give a damn. Nothing special she's only middle aged if she follows her mum's footsteps!

snafu · 21/04/2006 18:15

Nope.

Weeks and weeks of "Huzzah, ma'am, well done for not being dead yet!" doesn't really do it for me.

Ledodgy · 21/04/2006 18:17

and all the nutters sending her cards are slwoing down the postal system for the rest of us if my tax credit renewal don't come soon i'm sending her dp's p60 in a card!

Ledodgy · 21/04/2006 18:17

*slowing down even.

Yafta · 21/04/2006 18:17

No. The royal family bore the pants off me. I think they should only be paid what they are worth to the country. A type of performance related pay. Say, £15 per visit or something! That may make them realise they are spoilt rotten. Grin

I think she's alright actually. Both boys got a gold coin from school to comemorate her birthday which I thought was nice. As Queens go, and I'm quite glad we have one, I think she does a good job. After all she's stopped Charles from getting on the throne so she cant be all bad.

MissChief · 21/04/2006 18:19

lots do around here - little tedious but rather reassuring somehow too. She is part of all our history, regardless of your view on the monarchy

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 18:19

"a good job" of what, exactly? She doesn't do jack. She should have a motor fitted to her wrist so it could wave all by itself, then we'd be able to keep her on after she dies Grin

JoolsToo · 21/04/2006 18:22

Her 80th birthday doesn't really matter to me but I won't diss her, the family has provided a lot of entertainment over the years Grin.

She's loved my many and I don't knock it.

SleepyJess · 21/04/2006 18:22

No.

flobbleflobble · 21/04/2006 18:24

Well I think she is great and it is right to celebrate her 80th

GDG · 21/04/2006 18:24

I'm not in the least bit surprised by the response on MN - it's exactly what I expected.

I'm not going to hang flags out because she is 80 and I'm not a raving royalist, but I do like the fact that we have a royal family and most of them I do like.

blueteddy · 21/04/2006 18:24

No

sparkler1 · 21/04/2006 18:25

Nope

JoolsToo · 21/04/2006 18:25

oh and the history! the history is fantabulous!

GDG · 21/04/2006 18:27

I lurve the tudors - love, love, love that era.

Twiglett · 21/04/2006 18:29

well that's the media take .. that she's loved by many

but nobody I know under the age of 50 actually gives a fig

tbh some people don't mind royalty, some people dislike it intensely .. but whatever the amount of boring coverage there is on the slightest non-event is just .. well .... yawn

OP posts:
GDG · 21/04/2006 18:30

Oh Twiglett, I know what you mean - yes, I do find the continuous coverage draining.

JoolsToo · 21/04/2006 18:32

there's an easy solution to that though isn't there? Wink

anyway I thought you'd all be tuned into Nick Junior.

I've seen a smidgeon of her on the news - been out enjoying the sunshine or mning!
