Restrictions on certain ADs for women of childbearing age

This is a really interesting article, I do hope the professor has been misquoted. I would like to think HCPs don't share her point of view. ADs can be so helpful, I have seen that first hand.

I don't think it's anti-woman to tell women if certain products like the ADs and anti acne pills damage babies. Remember you are allowed to damage your child if you choose. I cycled when in early labour. It is your body, your choice, your decision - you can give birth alone. Obviously there are some restrictions - you may not have an unlawful abortion etc but in general you can drink, smoke, shoot cocaine, become a mercenary in Africa or climb mountains in pregnancy if you want to.

However telling us the risks is very wise. Obviously we all know ADs save lives. However many women are given them by GPs without any other treatment and yet they work best in conjunction with some therapy and other help. It is also possible in not so severe cases to mimic their effects through diet, exercise and sunlight.

Certanily rates of depression have absolutely soared since the British diet changed in the last 40 years from good healthy food to a load of junk and people stopped being outside and moving. You need to think of how you can increase levels of seratonin in your brain, dopamine, beta endorphins etc.

Isn't this on the back of new research published in the Lancet recently? Haven't read it or this article so can't comment but I'm sure I heard something on the radio about new research.
