Has anybody else been sickened by this killing \link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4664492.stm\here}

One of the convicts's mother has disowned him. If my child ever did something like that, I would be horrified that he could even think about doing something like that, let alone that he would actually carry it out but I wonder if I could ever disown him? He would have to show genuine remorse and regret as well as apologise to the family whose lives he would have ruined before I could even consider forgiving himSad.

When I was a teenager me and my best friend were walking home when we heard someone screaming. We ran home and my mum phoned the police. Although it turned out to be nothing and the police thought it was someone probably trying to frighten us the officers kept saying though that it was a good thing we called and we hadn't wasted their time. I think they could see we weren't lying.

Now though there are so many kids out in the streets at night yelling and screaming.

What those poor girls went through was horrendous and hopefully their attackers suffer and spend every last waking minute of their pathetic lives in jail. Just a pity our jails are too comfy for their like, could we send them somewhere a little less comfy?

never thought about the girl in the car before - but why on earth didn't she call the police? they may have found them if she had Sad

Theres a point HappyMum, I am also a little dubious about them letting her go just for her saying she was pregnant?

kid · 21/03/2006 22:31

Its obvious the men didn't care less about the 2 girls they took, so why didn't they take the 3rd even if she was pregnant. I have no idea why she didn't call the police (maybe no phone, wasn't the driver?) but she will have to live with the fact that she could have helped those poor girls.

I don't know how the parents will ever get over this. Sad

HappyMumof2 · 22/03/2006 07:33

I don't believe 'men' like this would give a toss if she was pregnant - might just add a new twist to it for them - sick bastards Angry

the original question was would you disown your son if he did something like this. Yes, I think I would Sad

edam · 22/03/2006 07:50

Apparently the details of the crime given in court were so horrific one the jurors was sick. Sad

Yes, think I would have to disown my son if he grew up into a disgusting torturer like this. God forbid.

Maybe the third girl didn't call the police because she was terrified of retribution? Lots of criminals are never caught. And druggies tend to have equally foul and dangerous friends.

Someone I used to work with was interviewed by police doing a house to house after a pointless, stupid murder by gangsters in a pub which her house overlooked. The estate where she lived used to be full of crack dens - it's home to some pretty major drug gangsters. She told me she wouldn't have talked to the police even if she had seen something. Too dangerous. She has to carry on living there, with her young son.

I am watching with interest to see what sentences are handed out here. Anything less than 25 and I think we will need another MN call for everyone to write to the Attorney Generals Office. This is another of those cases that have haunted me. What happened to those girls is beyond horrific. One of the defendants said that he felt that a 7th person was in the room - the devil. These boys can never ever be rehabilitated and should be locked away until they die, or hung. I expect the Human Rights Liberals will let them out in 10 years or so.

What really really frightens me is that so many of these cases are happening and my little boy has got to grow up in a world like this. It makes me want to go and live on a desert island somewhere where he will be safe.

In answer to the original bit, I don't honestly know if I would disown my son, I'd like to think I would, but lots of mums have stood by their children even though they have comitted horrible crimes.
