the tax for this band c flat is £1339/pa. i just got the notice yesterday.

misdee · 15/03/2006 22:43

not got mine yet. 1300 was for last year, it'll be higher this year.

they tried for a higher rise here, but when it was revealed they wasted £45m last year on utterly frivolous crap, the executive blocked them and they had to leave it at 2.5% increase.

misdee · 15/03/2006 22:49

there has been amssive cutbacks in council provided things (mainy entertainment grrr) since the slough estates fiasco.

oh, the cutbacks here are a joke. the whole thing would be funny if it weren't so pathetic - and the joke's on us, too.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 15/03/2006 22:54

my dad got his today - with the 25% single persons allowance, it is still nearly £1000 a month

misdee · 15/03/2006 22:54

i know.

i really dont blame this an for doing this. like he says, not against council tax, but aginst the stuoidly high increases.

Council tax here is a joke, like Misdee says, they put it a lot each year (i think MIL said its £5 a week or month extra this year) yet they have removed services, we have no swimming pool, no youth clubs, no holiday playschemes, we have to put our rubbish on on the boundry because the dustbin men ain't allowed to collect from the bins anymore, they have cut back on the cutting of the grass and bushes in the area to every 3 months instead of once a month, the list goes on...

misdee · 15/03/2006 23:01

oh, they wont do my front garden anymore (they did the first year we lived here)

OP posts:
sparklymieow · 15/03/2006 23:03

we have open front gardens, the council used to cut the grass every month, last year it was every 3 months and they didn't strim the part near the houses. So annoying.

expatinscotland · 15/03/2006 23:27

don't get me started on their 'housing policy'.

and then there's their new trend of mixing age groups/class years in primary schools as a way of cost cutting.

lavenderfraggle · 17/03/2006 16:19

jarm - should that be £100 a month or £1000 a year?? unless of course he lives in a mansion
