Why so little reporting of the Tour de France?

We've had massive publicity about Andy Murray being the first Men's Singles Finalist since the 1930s.

And quite right too.

But little notice - in this country - is being taken of the event across the Channel.

There, Bradley Wiggins is holding the Yellow Jersey into the 2nd week of the Tour, and is currently favourite to win the event.

This would be the first T de F win for a British cyclist in the entire 100+ year history of this gruelling race, and would follow Mark Cavendish's fantastic Green Jersey win last year.

Great stuff.

Bet it's on front page of every French newspaper. Some Italian ones, too.

I wonder how tough it is for BW to be away from his family for a whole month. DH says that his wife publicly promised to run naked down Champs Elysee if he won (probably at a time of her choosing Wink).

They're talking BBCSPoTY for Wiggo now.

Well Mr Wiggins' entry into the Elysian Fields does seem to be on all the front pages today.

In any other year Chris Froome would be all over the front pages, since no Briton has ever come in the top three before.

I wonder what the chances are of keeping this team together though. Both Cavendish and Froome have had to put their personal ambitions on hold to some extent.

Congratulations to Bradley Wiggins! So he's now knocked off Sir Steve Redgrave off the Super Olympian perch, lol. 5 golds and 1 bronze at the Olympics, and 1 Tour de France title. Can't even begin to imagine how someone who's used to cycling indoors for those pursuit events (I know nothing about cycling, lol) can do a road race with the different slopes, terrain, dealing with bends and turns, occasionally traffic, over such long distances and so many days. He's now the world's super athlete! Surely he has got to be the sportsman carrying the Olympic flame into the stadium and doing the lighting now. And yes, great to see his picture on a few front pages of major newspapers. About time!! Go Wiggo!
