Why is this on the news?

Is it news or freak show?

GoPoldark · 25/05/2012 11:13

Oh poor thing. She needs serious support. God what a horrid situation.

I feel very sorry for her.

Mollydoggerson · 25/05/2012 11:16

I feel sory for her.

I also feel she is defrauding the state by claiming a carer's allowance while she is incapable of getting out of bed.

The person who does the shopping and bringing plates of food up to her is to blame.

Horrible situation.

JosephineCD · 25/05/2012 11:22

The mother should be jailed for attempted murder IMO.

BlackOutTheSun · 25/05/2012 11:26

her issues with food started when her father died when she was 5 Sad

get0rfm0iland · 25/05/2012 11:34

Poor, poor girl.

I can't see how this can be classed as anything other than abuse on the part of the mother.

QueenEdith · 25/05/2012 17:12

CuttedUpPear: the link was to the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen. I'n nit sure how rapacious they are in terms of hit counting.

Another thread has now been started today in AIBU too.

Ryoko · 25/05/2012 17:17

The Feeders need dealing with what is wrong with them? besides I really don't understand how anyone can get that bad, doesn't a time every come when you look in the mirror and say no more or is the feeder to blame for continued encouragement?

WhereYouLeftIt · 25/05/2012 17:29

"I also feel she is defrauding the state by claiming a carer's allowance while she is incapable of getting out of bed."
I'd be inclined to think that that benefit claim was instigated by the mother rather than the daughter.

talkingnonsense · 25/05/2012 18:49

I hope they prosecute the mother for fraud then if nothing else. She has probably ruined her daughters life.

BlackOutTheSun · 25/05/2012 20:17

She is being treated for organ failure Sad

BlackOutTheSun · 25/05/2012 20:18

By reading that, its sounds like the whole family needed help

TheCrackFox · 25/05/2012 20:25

I hope she makes a good recovery. What is clear, however, is that she should not return to live with her mum who has failed her badly.

griff31 · 26/05/2012 08:21

I felt really sad when saw this on news. sky news reported in usual horrid way like was freakshow.

miss her daybreak appearance.

but saw documentry last year think was living showed her leaving wales and going to states and she mad so much progress such a shame she returned to how she was.

surprised its been allowed to get that far.
baffled how she could be her mothers carer
when her mother seems fine.

see similar case in real life where freinds aunt lived with her mother all her life as a carer, had no lives, no freinds, was quite large. when the mother died she really stuggled to cope independatly.

Think more should be done to hel carers especially kids caring for parents.

QueenEdith · 26/05/2012 08:34

I am baffled at how she was able to claim carer's allowance when she was unable to leave her bed (for I do not see what she can possibly have been doing to carry out that care). Does no one check up? Or is it just paper based?

ChopstheScarletduck · 26/05/2012 08:46

Carers is paper based. The dla is a huge long assessment form, but once that us awarded, the carers is straightforward.

Poor girl. The fish and chip thing is heartbreaking.

Thumbwitch · 26/05/2012 08:51

Apparently she was 63st when she was removed ffrom the house.
She'd been her mother's carer since she was a child.

Olympia2012 · 26/05/2012 13:11

Looks like she will be returning home! I read earlier that her mother is moving them all to a nearby bungalow so hospital visits will be easier.

I guess the housing association have put them to the top of housing allocations! How about the mother stays in the house she is in, and Georgia moves to the bungalow..

jaquelinehyde · 26/05/2012 13:40

Well what an utter cunt the person is who wrote that article thumbwitch!

I totally agree with the part of the article that states that Georgia has been let down by evey adult in her life. However, the nasty, offensive, ignorant shite that the author spouted about obese adults prior to that invalidated anything else they had to say.

I get so angry at people like that who are all to happy to be offensive or make fun of overweight people so quickly. I guarantee that if we didn't know Georgia's history the author of that article would have probably been lighting the torches and leading the witch hunt for her. What an utter knob!

Birdsgottafly · 26/05/2012 14:19

I think that it is unfair to lay blame only at the mother's door.

There has been criticism from expert doctors about the lack of professional support.

This isn't just a matter of with holding food, which would be illegal to do it an adult with capacity, anymore than it is a parents fault that an adult child dies from, anerexia, or an addiction of any sort.

This isn't an eating problem, it is a MH problem, probably on both sides.

This whole thing just makes me so sad, I do hope that she gets the longterm help she needs to lead a healthy life.

Thumbwitch · 26/05/2012 14:33

But, and I'm only going on what I've read in the various places, it seems she was only bed/roombound for the last 6m - prior to that she was still doing the washing and stuff for her mother and stepfather. So, one assumes she was feeding herself - until the last 6m.
And yes, I'd blame the mother for being a "feeder" too, Maryz - apparently she weighed 9st at age 7.
Unless she actually has Prader Willi syndrome, her mother is largely to blame for her overeating.

Olympia2012 · 26/05/2012 14:49

MH problem birds?

That link didn't work for me, sorry.
