Well, it's sort of obvious isn't it. If you have a happy childhood, that means you probably have parents who support you, love you, help you do stuff, and give you confidence to achieve things in life as well as practical help.

Obviously, there are exceptions to all cases.

Trouble is, you can have parents who try their best to give you a happy childhood but still not be 'happy'. Some people are naturally more glass half-empty. It's in their nature. I have tried so hard to make my son happy and most of the time he is. He has had a generally healthy and settled childhood with two parents who love him. But he has always looked on the gloomy side of life. Possibly he's just a realist about life and what it can be like. Perhaps that will bring him a certain amount of future sucess.

my own adult ds is so happy and 'chilled' but totally lacking in motivation..so rarely finishes what he starts and doesn't give himself the chance to reap the rewards of his efforts as he's loathe to ever make any
yet he is first to confirm he had an amazingly happy childhood. and i always made sure we finished jigsaws and projects...it's hard sometimes not to feel i've failed a little somewhere along the line Confused
