Guardian article mentions the mumsnet campaign.

That's a very disingenuous article by the Gardy...it's only counting the attacks that the police/CPS chose to follow up as rapes, so discounting 90% of reported rapes. The Attrition rate is similarly misreported.

One interesting statistic...in 25 years the actual number of men convicted for rape has barely changed (500-600 per year)...while the number of reported rapes has increased exponentially.

Very that's interesting

I doubt that many women are particularly interested in the conviction rate per se. Surely the relevant figure when deciding whether to report it to the police or not is the 'attrition rate' - ie what are the chances that the end result of the report will be a conviction. Whether its 6% or 12%, that's still bloody low.

I have to say me and oh talked about this last week after me watching crime watch

And knowing how many people get away rather that relive the experince and be branded as somone who lies if I were raped I doubut I would report it

Very sad :(

So after a brief talk about rape rates etc they focus half the article on a woman who it was accepted is suffering from post traumatic stress and was terrified by her violent and abusive husband enough to retract her statement then admit that was wrong so they prosecuted her and convicted her.

What about the prosecution for the man and his sister that terrified her into doing this?

Where was her support after she had the strength to come forward initially to protect her and see her through this?

No wonder rape victims don't bother a lot of the time Sad
