Lamb Virus is not a threat to humans, says FSA (heard it all before, remember BSE)

'A virus that has killed lamb and cattle does not pose a danger to humans' the Food Standards Agency has said.

This brings back haunting memories of the BSE disease that was suppose to be non-transmissable from animals to humans

I for one will not be eating lamb for the forseeable future, have already been potentially exposed to BSE due to eating what we were told by John Gummer 'beef was safe to eat', and yet today at least 200 people have died from human bse in the UK alone.

What the FSA fail to tell us is what have Germany & The Netherlands done to eradicate this harmful virus, all we are being told is that lamb is safe to eat, yeah right, lost my trust in the FSA's advice many years ago.

and if you feel that the risk isn't worth it, than don't eat meet.

I fail to see why you are banging on about BSE, when the thread was about Schmallenberg Confused

meat

Because it is her thing. If ever there is a thread about BSE, you can guarantee that Beaaware has either started it or is bumping it.
I don't eat lamb because I don't like it. I have to say I was surprised about the non reporting that is going on. Especially since Easter is on the way and, I think, lamb is eaten a lot then.
Good luck to any sheep farmers out there.

Beaaware, you only come on here to scaremonger, on any subject you can drag out of the news apparently. Though anything to do with BSE does seem to be a personal fave.

Have you ever considered getting professional help for your obsessive worrying?Smile

Beaaware · 02/03/2012 14:52

whereinthewildthingswere, I think you should be thanking me for informing you about some things that are never put into the public domain, for instance the next SABTO meeting on 9th March which will be discussing whether or not to introduce blood screening for vCJD to protect your health. Like it or not forums ar a good way to inform and discuss issues, many things you talk about on here are repetitive, so what, I have learnt so much from mumsnet on all sorts of subjects. I do find it hilarious that some of you are following me though and trying to undermine what are serious health issues, be it lamb or beef diseases/viruses.

cazboldy, it's just a news story, check Daily Mail online today, not scaremongering, fact.

Briefly, because I need to go and collect my DD.
I am certainly not following you. I've just noticed that if there is ever mention of vCJD, BSE, madcows, Selwyn Gummer you appear.
Do you have a cow mentioned buzzer that summons you?

EdithWeston · 02/03/2012 14:58

Conflating a disease caused by prions and one caused by a virus is however unhelpful.

cazboldy · 02/03/2012 14:58

um I would rather not check the DM.....

And I didn't say you were scaremongering, I am perfectly aware of both issues thanks, being a dairy farmer's wife!

Thank You Edith, better put than me Smile
