.... has anyone seen about [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16458524 this]].

I linked to the bbc website, but some of the comments on other websites (telegraph, Daily Mail) are just appalling, showing a complete lack of understanding of Tourettes and of why this was such an ill judged remark.

this isn't about massive tax avoidance though is it? It is about the fact that a lot of people still seem to think it is acceptable to make 'disabilist' (yes I know it isn't in the dictionary, I wonder why considering how rife disabilism is) remarks, because it is 'off the cuff', just a joke and if anyone complains they are the 'pc brigade', 'professionally offended' and lacking a sense of humour.

No it's not acceptable at all. And that's why he apologised. It was a foot in mouth moment, not a premeditated act. What do you think he should do to rectify the situation? After all, we all make mistakes.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've said something and as the words have come out I've thought "oh dear....." Having done presentations for work and spoken in public a few times, I can totally relate to saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. It doesn't make me a bad person, just human.

there are mistakes and foot in the mouth comments, this was neither, it was an educated man, the leader of our country, using a disability as an insult.
