I'm afraid to say that chances are you've been conned.

Firstly the website no longer works.

Secondly the website is registered recently to a company in China

Thirdly they are not on the list of official retailers listed on Ugg's website

How did you pay?

daenerysstormborn · 08/12/2011 16:41

you are not stupid, there are a lot of sites selling fake uggs, it's hard to tell what's fake and not as they use original photo's but that's not what you get sent.

price wise, if it wounds too good to be true, then it usually is.

I have learnt my lesson. I thought they were genuine but a bit cheaper£70 is a lot of money to me. I paid by visa debit. I have been in touch with my bank, got my card stopped now and have to fill in a form to see if I am able to get my money backXmas Angry

Hmmm, Debit cards don't afford the same protection as credit cards. That's why i almost always use a credit card online. And I know it's a bit late now but I never ever buy from any site which isn't very well known such as Amazon.

Good luck and I hope you get your money back.

I've just done exactly the same thing. Looked like a totally genuine Ugg outlet, didn't even occur to me they could be selling fakes (stupid, but there we have it) the site had pics of genuine looking Deckers, screamed about how they were located in the UK, 100% genuine sheepskin, no shipping fees and guaranteed no hidden charges.

My first inkling was the lack of tracking number, my second was my CC statement that showed they'd taken £70 instead of the £64.99 and that the payment was sent to China. Then I noticed the terrible spelling mistakes all over the site.

I'll be amazed if I even get them, more amazed if they're real. I looked up the domain owner and it's registered to some man in China and the site is only a few weeks old. He's also registered as a UK individual - which is wrong in itself if the site is actually for business purposes. I'm just glad I paid by credit card and not debit. Oh well, it's a lesson learned I suppose. Ironically if it'd been ebay or whatever I'd have seen it for the con it evidently is. You just don't really expect it from a site advertised on facebook (they ad hasn't shown up for a few days now so I expect fb got onto it, too late for those of us who assumed fb ads would be vetted before they were allowed). Boo. Shit.

I did the same thing 2 years ago Blush the 'Uggs' turned up squashed together into a battered cardboard (they didn't have individual boxes) with a export/import (whatever) tax slip showing that I had bought a $14 dollar dress!!

Emailed the website - obviously got no reply - but fortunately had paid with my Credit Card so made a claim and got all my money back about a month later. (almost £170 - they took out more than the amount I thought I'd paid too).

Has made me very careful and also only buy from well known sites like Amazon. Eventually got the Uggs from Rubber Sole which is an authorised retailer for Ugg.

As Niceguy says Ugg have a webite checker on their website which enables you to check authenticity before buying. Also an authorised Ugg retailer is never allowed to use 'Ugg' in their website name. (per the Ugg website).

Sorry you got caught like this and hope you can get your money back.

bottleofbeer - sounds like we used the same website!

bottleofbeer · 11/12/2011 22:51

Probably! still no response to my emails so I'll give it another few days then file a claim. So annoyed with myself, but it just looked totally genuine that it didn't even occur to me it was a scam. Honestly it was a hair's breadth decision to use the credit card and not the debit card. Thank gawd I did.
