Changes to Tax Credits.

I have heard murmurs on other threads that Tax Credits for the poorest workers are going to be cut to fund the nursery for 2yo's surestartlight thing.

Does anyone have any links or information on HOW they are going to cut the TC's? I have missed it all as I have been preoccupied with a meeting at DD's school!

I've been wondering that too HuntyCat

Found this on googlenews...searching for more...

" The child element of child tax credit and the disability elements of tax credit will be uprated in line with inflation, but other tax credit increases will be restricted."

Bossybritches22 · 29/11/2011 23:22

"Planned 3p fuel duty rise in January to be scrapped. But duty will go up by 3p in August."....well that buys us some time was dreading that.

"Inflation-linked rise in disability element of tax credits but below-inflation increase in other tax credits

£110 rise above inflation in the child element of the child tax credit scrapped"

Bossybritches22 · 29/11/2011 23:24

So no cuts in child credits as such but less than inflation increase will basically keep it the same I suppose?

CardyMow · 29/11/2011 23:25

Does that mean they will do away with the 'family' element? Which is around £545 a year? That will mean a £10.48/wk loss for EVERY TC claimant. And does that ALSO mean that they will lower the percentage of CHILDCARE credits paid? Or the maximum allowable amount of childcare that they will pay 70% for? (£300/wk at the moment) At the same time as forcing LOTS more people back to work?

Nope, LESS than inflation means a real-terms CUT. It should at LEAST be AT the inflation rate. This is because the inflation rate in Septemebr (what they use for uprating benefits) was very high. So they aren't even going to be matching the CPI, let alone the RPI.

This will work out as quite a stinging real-life cut. SHIT.

Oh double shit then...thought it seemed too good to be true, they were hiding behind the words.

If they do away with the family element I'm stuffed as I don't use childcare now mine are older.

It's been being mooted for a while now, getting rid of the £545 family element, I just want to know if it is true. Because if it is, then I am screwed. I don't HAVE another £10/wk I can shave off my outgoings. Unless I only put half a week's electric on the meter. Or don't buy food for all of us one day a week. Or only pay for 3 weeks water a month. Or go a whole week without Gas for heating and hot water.

THAT is the difference that £10 a week will make to me, you cuntychops Tory fuckers. Nice choices, eh?

Grin Hunty call away, no objections here, if I tighten our belts any more we'll snap in half.

We'll look like a bit of pasta soon if I don't feed the kids summat different.

I've been squirreling away bits of money & working extra to get us all a Wii as a joint Christmas present as the DD's have been so good & not moaned this year & all our birthdays are in Jan/Feb so it'll be for that too. Wondering if I should get a refund & keep that money for heating..... Sad

I may have to give up my college course to work even more hours so hows that going to benefit society?
