Can anyone point me to a link? After googling varies combinations of 'government' 'public sector' 'pension' 'calculator' I am no closer to locating the damn thing. I did find a lot of very useful and balanced information on the unite website though.
Aside from the fact that many public sector workers won't have laptops they can 'flip open' as they sit at their desks....

Ooh, I was going to do that as soon as I've finnished doing the rota (unpaid, on my day off).

chibi · 27/11/2011 17:04

nick clegg should flip open david cameron's bum and check out his head

Ryoko · 27/11/2011 17:44

No he should flip open his wallet and give his ill gotten gains to the needy, then say sumimasen to his party, and fall on his sword to make amends for his treachery.

Elliott · 27/11/2011 22:29

No-ones found it yet then?

You gave me a clue though-googled 'nhs pension calculator' and found something- though unfortunately they haven't managed to provide one relevant to my situation yet...
I have to say the letter we received was full of half truths and propaganda - I do recommend the unite website especially for a good explanation of the CARE scheme

This is what I found for the NHS pension scheme - what is your pension scheme called do you know?

www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/Pensions/calculators.aspx

Elliott · 27/11/2011 22:56

No that isn't it - there is something up on the dh website for the new proposals. I am NHS but they have only got the calculator done for some of the categories (no idea why they can't manage all of them, you sold hope they would know the implications of their own proposals....

SauvignonBlanche · 28/11/2011 18:28

C'mon Nick you prick, where are we supposed to find this?

northender · 28/11/2011 18:33

Nick Clegg can take a running jump as far as I'm concerned. Not constructive I know...

breadandbutterfly · 28/11/2011 21:59

No - no links on here that work or are relevant.

Wonder why that info is so hidden?

I can't think what the government are trying to hide... Hmm

FontSnob · 29/11/2011 19:47

Who's Nick Clegg?

AnyFucker · 29/11/2011 20:04

Nick Clegg is making himself very scarce these days

I wonder if the Coalition is in jeopardy ?

I've been thinking that if you are allowed to start a petition and if it get's more than 1000 signatures then that forces a debate in parliment then why hasn't anyone started one which says that we have no confidence in the current economic policy?

malakadoush · 29/11/2011 22:37

He's busy cleaning up all the dog pooh that he apparently gets put through his letter box as a result of selling his constituents down the swanny.

AbsofCroissant · 30/11/2011 10:17

My colleague has worked out, that since he started working, the age of retirement has gone up at exactly the same rate. So, for e.g. when he started working at 25, retirement age was 65, now he's 28 so it's 68, and he said "Is this just going to continue til I die? Will I never retire?"

It certainly feels that way

JuliaScurr · 30/11/2011 10:26

Grinch Do it!
I think they're hoping you'll all be worked to death, so pension will be overtaken by events.
Actually, I find many of your comments bitter and cynical. An appealing trait. All rallying/picketting later are we? Morale must be maintained. Enjoy!

TalkinPeace2 · 01/12/2011 15:47

The pension offer is different for the different schemes because the demographics of membership are different.

The trouble with final salary pensions is that when they were thought up, the retirement age was equal to the life expectancy.
If they had stayed like that, the retirement age would now be 78.
Setting aside 15% of your salary from 25 years ago is NEVER going to provide 50% of your salary on retirement this year.
