People with red hair are allowed to drink. It's well known.

thats terribly sad for him and his family.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/01/2006 18:05

Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has admitted he "been seaking to cope with a drink problem".

Good Lord this is the British Broadcating Corporation.

beansprout · 05/01/2006 18:05

Good for him. That can't have been easy and the media will have a field day.

Flossam · 05/01/2006 18:07

I like him. Poor chap. His wife had her baby where I did and mum and I wondered if she had the same significant view...

Who will stand to oppose him then?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/01/2006 18:08

I like him, and I like the fact that the Lib Dems are not opposition for opposition sake.

beansprout · 05/01/2006 18:09

Menzies Campbell will stand.

Enid · 05/01/2006 18:09

ah poor man
and poor family

apparently its a load of bolleaux about him not having had a drink for 2 months though

drunk as a lord at a party in December apparently

Flossam · 05/01/2006 18:10

Having said I like him, I wouldn't want him to be running the country. As sad as it is, because I do like him, perhaps too many other feel the same and therefore it might be good for the party.

bundle · 05/01/2006 18:10

I'd stand down if I were him, the job is obviously stressful and he's got a difficult road ahead if he truly intends to give up alcohol - and have time for his new family.

OP posts:
Enid · 05/01/2006 18:11

yes agree bundy

bundle · 05/01/2006 18:12

fab inside knowledge, enid

OP posts:
beansprout · 05/01/2006 18:12

It's interesting though as a lot of people now assume he has a weakness of character, but if he managed to become leader of his party while he was an active alcoholic, imagine what he could do if he wasn't bogged down by the effects of drinking too much!! I suspect though, we won't get the opportunity to find out.

Flossam · 05/01/2006 18:14

That is an interesting way of looking at it. Poor chap.

Poor bloke. He does look very unhealthy though, very bloated.

marthamoo · 05/01/2006 19:08

I like him too. I hope he manages to dry out.
