The Protection of State Information Bill proposes tough sentences of up to 25 years on anyone possessing classified government documents, with no defence of acting in the public interest. Today MPs voted on the bill and 259 voted in favour of it, 32 against.
In other words, if someone (a journalist, member of public etc) find out about some kind of corruption that is going on in the SA government, it is illegal to mention it.
As one commenter said: 'All those in favour of corruption:259
All those against:32'
Seriously worried about what is going to happen to the country. The only heartening thing is the unanimous tide of anger against the ANC as evidenced in the comments section of this article from all races.
Any fellow SAfricans concerned?
