Did anyone else notice how Ken Clarke slurred "judical (??) system" in the 10.25pm BBC news tonight?? Blooming heck! I could not work out if he said judiciary or judicial and that was after rewinding a zillion times!!!

I don't know about that but I think the whole idea is bullshit.

I used to carry knives for years, for protection, what do they expect to achieve with the changes? a 100% drop in stabbings and 100% increase in hammer attacks?.

The issue is not the tools involved but the mentality of those who want to attack others, it's a jungle out there, if they have to they will kick each other to death or revert to stoning, wants needed is proper understanding of what has brought us to this and how to change it, not knee jerk legislation against the carrying of tools.

What are you saying? Ken Clarke was pissed? You seem more interested in his pronunciation than the proposals about knife-carrying. And btw Ryoko... anyone carrying a knife 'for protection' is kidding themselves.

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 28/10/2011 09:18

That's right cogito I used to live on one of the most notorious housing estates in South London and I never once carried a knife.

The only thing wrong with the new law is that 2 months isn't enough. As someone said on the radio, those that serve it will see it as a badge of honour. Kind of like ASBO'S.

ANYONE carrying a knife is stupid and needs tellling. Anyway....it's not those who carry knives that will go down...it's those who brandish them in a threatning manner.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 28/10/2011 23:23

I am not saying that KC was pissed, Cogitoergoetc: and the point of my post was not to discuss the issue of the matter raised. I thought that Ken Clarke, for whatever reason, slurred the word "judicial" and I wondered if anyone else had noticed that. It sounded as if he was unable to say the word clearly.

Confused

So you posted in "In the News" merely to point out that KC slurred a word?

Why?

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 28/10/2011 23:35

Yes, because I thought that people in "In the news" section may have seen The News.

And slurring a word is news?... Shall we tell Eddie Izzard or will you?

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 29/10/2011 21:25

I used to live/grew up on the 2nd worst estate in West London.

Carrying a knife that was bigger then the one the guy who tried to frog match me into the park had saved me, so :p to you.

What do you think is going to happen if someone attacks you? the great British public step in? don't make me laugh, when I wasn't carrying a knife I got attacked by a drunk at a bus stop opposite the police station at 8pm on a Friday night, no one helped, no police came over, nothing, everyone just walks away, keyrings can be useful at times mind you.

No one stepped in to help when I got chased down Harlseden high road when I was 16 by the perv who used to hang around outside the collage gate pestering all the girls at going home time.

You are on your own in this world.
