Tesco profits down

So apparently Tesco has had a profit drop and the news is blaming it on us tightening our belts in this time of woe.

Really? well I'm sure I've contributed to the drop but thats because Tesco have been pricing people out for about 2 years now with price increases far above the other shops and their offers are blatantly bogus, jacking up the prices of things before or during an offer is normal for them, no such thing as an offer in Tesco, prices are all ways jacked up for a single item during a BOGOF.

Goes to show I'm far from being the only one to notice this and take my shopping list elsewhere, they need to stop treating the customers like fools.

I prefer Morissons, myself.
I feel really bad for my mum, she does internet shopping at Tesco and it costs her an arm and a lag, but it's her only option, so with Tesco being devious little gits, it's people like her that suffer the most.

She can't physically get to the shops, so internet is her only choice. I helped her order from ASDA once, and she was well chuffed with the savings compared to Tesco, but then when it came to paying ASDA messed up and took the money from her account once before the delivery, and again when the stuff was delivered (this meant an old woman, who lives hand-to-mouth on her pension, had over £200 taken from her account in the space of a few days), so I don't think it's just Tesco that are being a big shady,I think it's something almost all major supermarkets need to take a second look at.

The reason Tesco have done so well in the past is that people shop there - simples! ALL the supermarkets are out to get your money and as much as possible, and they are all as sneaky as each other - they are not in it for love, none of them. I don't understand this apparent hatred for Tesco in particular, someone said up thread they're in it for themselves - well yes, aren't all non charitable companies?

I don't shop there anymore because I too go to Aldi, but I don't hate Tesco, nor do I relish their profit drop - if they start losing too much money then jobs will go - remember that folks while you're all crowing about how pleased you are that they've not made as much money as predicted.

My DD works for Tesco , they are already cutting staff and over time , so its not really funny for the people who work there , and Tesco employ a lot of people

tesco have been screwing over the customer for a while now with bizarre yellow sticker offers that don't add up. i'm sure they rely on people not using mathematical skills to work them out and i hate them for that.

i don't blame their staff, ours are lovely, just the people in charge

When I shop I spend time checking out prices and comparing deals - it isn't that hard (and I'm rubbish at maths), and if you shop somewhere regularly you soon get to know when prices change. EG it isn't always cheaper to buy a bigger pack of something, nor is it always cheaper to go for the 2 for 1 offers. The supermarkets rely on our laziness, and in general I'm sure they don't break the laws, just use them effectively. We may not think it ethical, but if we all spent a bit of time checking things then it wouldn't be worth their while to do it!
