...and hes only a year older than me, which makes me feel really old.

He was at Oxford at the same time as I was. (I didn't know him)
apparently he was in the Bullingdon - that set was pretty scary, and they had a short way with proles who happened to cross their path.

The only member of his current group, according to the BBC, that I know personally, is Michael Gove. Suffice to say I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MOYNIHAN PLATE.

dont think Ill ever vote for Cameron.

I'm hoping for an effective opposition too, the Labour tem have been resting on their laurels, getting complacent, ignoring the electorate at large.
I am not sure DC will beat out GB in a vote next time, but it will be a lot closer.

Nightynight · 06/12/2005 20:40

dont weaken and be tempted to vote Tory, will you Epiffany

maybe, sophable, maybe.

my worry actually is that a pr friendly tory party will steal votes from the lib dems and they really have been the only voice of reason on occasions lately.then we will have more or less two versions of the same party to choose between.

Heathcliffscathy · 06/12/2005 20:46

you could be right sp.

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 20:49

Nope will not happen
I'd get dp to handcuff me to the stairs (very Pankhursty how ironic) to stop me from voting

inameeting · 06/12/2005 21:12

I might vote for him and I've never considered voting tory ever - but being the father of a child with severe and multiple learning disabilities he must have a far greater comprehension and philosophy of the world/society.

Passionflowerinapeartree · 06/12/2005 22:25

Ha ha ha (mad cackle - think witches in macbeth) at last things might get a bit interesting.

Tortington · 06/12/2005 23:41

am thinking if the tories get in next time - which i think they will for reasons below, that they will have 4 years to fuck up the country creating more poverty and keeping me and dh in a job.

and if a younger prettier face and his lovely furry cuddley tory party does it then great.

ImdreadinganAUTIExmas · 07/12/2005 14:36

I hope he gets in. Would love someone who has a disabled child to be in power. The inclusion policy may become sensible rather than be about saving money. Vote Tory I say.

puddle · 07/12/2005 14:50

Those of you who would vote for him because he has a child with disabilities...

Did you know that he voted against giving parents of young and disabled children the right to request flexible working?

He has also voted against:
extending maternity leave to 26 weeks
raising maternity pay
introducing 2 weeks paid leave for fathers

ImdreadinganAUTIExmas · 07/12/2005 22:23

yep but he;s pro special schools. Which is more than enough as closing ds1's school would have more impact than anything else on us. So he'll still get my vote.

Working (outside school hours) with a young disabled child is just about impossible anyway. Flexible or not.

inameeting · 07/12/2005 22:29

I wouldn't like to go job hunting if I had a child with sn if I was able to request flexible hours. It was bad enough just being a woman of child-bearing age.

He's fed up of special schools closing and understands that the current push for inclusion doesn't suit a lot of people.

thecattleareALOHing · 07/12/2005 22:35

He's nasty and hiding what he really thinks, I suspect. Clearly bright and charismatic, but sinister for all that.

Epiffany · 07/12/2005 22:36

yep at the end of the day still a Tory
