i too am so happy for them and am amazed it was two years ago already that their baby girl died. I hope they are happy and what will he be called?.....

zebra · 18/10/2003 04:30

Oh, that's wonderful news. I think everybody was gutted for them before.

Purely nosy, I know, but what happened before? I guess they induced Sarah early, but why? High blood pressure? I always wondered.

codswallop · 18/10/2003 07:54

Oh angus is an excellent chioce...

aloha · 18/10/2003 08:48

I understood the baby wasn't growing at all inside her and appeared to be in trouble - hence the induction. Terribly, terribly sad at the time. I was in tears for them. Maybe Robert for their son? Definitely NOT Tony

aloha · 18/10/2003 08:48

Or Andrew?

musica · 18/10/2003 09:03

I think they had to decide whether the baby had a better chance in or out, as it wasn't growing, and they decided on out. Poor wee thing!

Welshmum · 18/10/2003 09:11

I think he'll be called Gordon. Big Scottish tradition to name first son after dad. It's fab news.

SoupDragon · 18/10/2003 09:12

Wonderful news!

fisil · 18/10/2003 09:58

I'd heard John or James.

Thanks for reminding me about that smile when Jennifer was born - just imagine the smile now!

We conceived just after they lost the first, and talked about it regularly throughout the pg, as we realised how terrible it must have been as we fell more and more in love with our foetus!

We both had wet eyes when we heard the news!

suedonim · 18/10/2003 11:36

Maybe the baby will be called after GB's father, who died a couple of years back? I can't remember what his name was, though.

I don't know why but I see Gordon as a father of girls - his nickname wasn't 'Sugar' for nothing! Maybe they'll have another baby soon. Anyway, I can't wait for the first pictures of the new arrival!

Davros · 18/10/2003 12:07

JOHN! You were right Suedonim, after the grandfather.

suedonim · 18/10/2003 12:44

Oh, has it been announced? Better go and see the news!

motherinferior · 18/10/2003 16:03

It is lovely, isn't it - I cried too, and so did dp!

codswallop · 18/10/2003 16:43

saw him looking sooooooooooooooo pleased on the news.

Blubbed.

naughtynoonoo · 18/10/2003 16:53

Welcome John Brown into the world, and huge congratulations to Gordon and Sarah - they deserve every best wish (and every sleepless night to come their way!!!!!!)

Paula71 · 18/10/2003 19:55

My twin ds' were born the day after their daughter Jennifer was and we were in a hospital in the next big town near Edinburgh so I have always felt for Sarah Brown. I had lost a baby so knew the tearing pain of grief.

Seeing GB on the news today, his smile was wonderful and almost had me crying! I have a feeling politics won't be as important to him now!

Good luck to baby John and he has very loving parents and best wishes from everyone, regardless of political persuasion!

Demented · 19/10/2003 12:46

Lovely news, they don't live far from us so there has been lots in the local paper recently about a charity she has set up for premature babies and their parents, so glad things have worked out for them this time.

motherinferior · 19/10/2003 21:41

How long before Gordon, too, is singing The Wheels on the Bus ?

Clarinet60 · 20/10/2003 13:51

We wept buckets too. So pleased for them after losing their little girl. Ahhhhhh!

susanmt · 20/10/2003 14:01

Wonderful News. Their daughter had been due the same week as my ds, and that was so sad - so glad to hear it has all gone well this time for them all.

fio2 · 20/10/2003 17:27

Oh I thought it was lovely too!! They have had a rough ride with losing jenifer and I feel really, really happy for them - made tears come to my eyes too!

CathB · 23/10/2003 12:59

They looked so happy leaving the hospital too. I thought GB was cheerfully incoherant and rambling about the new baby as we all are.

codswallop · 23/10/2003 13:14

how do we get this to him then?

Bossanova · 23/10/2003 13:37

It still makes me smile when I think of GB's beaming face. He looks like a different man, so relaxed, and he looks much younger too. They both deserve this happiness so much after what they have been through.
