As do all the other members of the panel of US show 'The Talk' apart from Sarah Gilbert (Darlene from Roseanne) who tries at the end of the clip to suggest nobody would be laughing if it was a man that cut off his wife's breasts' - to which Osbourne and another say 'Oh that's different...'

This is sick. I never liked Sharon Osbourne, but her behaviour here is unforgivable. The rest of the panel are no better, and the audience - how could they find it hysterical??

Also, has this been covered on any news? I bet if a bunch of men laughed about a woman being raped or genitally mutilated while an audience of men laughed it would be a world news scandal. And everyone involved would lose their jobs.

To make it worse, here is Osbourne's 'apology' during which she GIGGLES, (as do the audience) showing she clearly is not sorry at all. And the apology is just 'it's hard doing a show every day.' Pathetic.

Agreed. And tbh I don't really have too much of a problem with people making jokes of this nature if that's what they're in to as long as they're not hypocritical about it, which is why it's more the reaction of the women around the table/in the audience that gets me. Because I'm 99% sure that Sharon Osbourne wouldn't get too up in arms about a similar joke about a woman in such a situation, where as there is no way that that show would deal with the genital mutilation of a woman as a comedic piece and there's no way that the women in that audience would cheer for the man who perpetrated it.
It's a bit like how I felt about that woman who complained about being offended during a Frankie Boyle show, she was happy to laugh along when he discrimnated against groups she found funny and acceptable to discriminate against but complained when it hit something that she thought was off-limits.

A woman was murdered in our town (Bournemouth) a few years back and the murderer 'removed' both her breasts and left them by her head.

It shocked me so much i found it hard to read about the case in the local paper.

I would feel just the same about a man being mutilated.

I agree Isla, I have never understood why people like her - she is SOOO obviously false. Have read some things about her that made me sick - yes she had a habit of sending either chocolate boxes filled with her dogs shits, or her own turd in a box. She is a fucking freak.

Yes, I suppose I'm not surprised at Sharon Osbourne, after being reminded of the shit-sending story - she's clearly, well, scummy. But the other panelists? The audience? I've read comment sections about this news story with lots of women saying 'ha, you go girl, he probably deserved it' or simpley 'Awesome!' I know a lot of mean things get said on the internet, but I do also remember how the Lorena Bobbit case was treated as a big joke also. I do think men are demonized too much these days, and is maybe a reason why women (not all women obviously) are encouraged and allowed to find a story as sick and repulsive as this one a big joke!

They are not saying it's right they are just making light of it. I personally think it's completely hipocritical and agree it would be a completely different conversation had a woman been mutilated. I think it is disgusting that a woman could do this and no serious crime of this nature should be discussed in such a way. But I feel the panelists are in no way condoning it they are just not discussing it as a serious topic.
