Do you have one? The London Fire Brigade has found faulty BEKO fridge freezers were the cause of 20 London house fires.

BEKO website says which models have the fault.

They are having a recall, but if you have one of these, you may want to get on to the company asap.

Mine came up as the model but not the seriel number mine starts with 08 so a 2008 model. If its starts with 06 for 2006 or earlier its affected.

I have still e mailed them as i want mine checked

We have a Beko fridge freezer but I've been a little to heavy handed with my cleaning cloth and rubbed most of the serial number off Blush All I can make out is 06. Think I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Thanks for letting us know op :)

misdee · 05/07/2011 20:25

Checked mine, as is a model on the list but the serieal number makes it ok. phew!!

had a little burst of anxiety then.

PaperView · 05/07/2011 20:28

Arse, ours is one of the affected ones. FFS what's next for us?! (toooo much going wrong at the mo)

Are ous all leaving yours on through the night

Found the model number but didn't get the serial number and am now at work - our model is certainly affected. Can't get through on the phone and have sent an email with no reply. Has anyone actually managed to get hold of Beko at all?

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 06/07/2011 13:18

Ours is one of the affected ones.

For anyone that needs to know you can go on the beko website or call 08007837892, that's the number for arranging the repair too.

It took me a few goes to get through yesterday but I did eventually speak to a real person!

The advice from the London Fire Brigade on Radio 2 yesterday was no need to run them off, ensure smoke alarms are fitted and contact bekoHmm

I panicked a bit but the freezer is full and I don't want to lose the food if I turn it offConfused They are coming to repair ours next week!

I have emailed but no reply. I will have to ring.

I have a beko fridge still in packing (am taking it to second home in France next week) hence can't see the serial number in the place it's supposed to be without unpacking it all, which would then be a risk of damage when loading, travelling and unloading.

Does anyone know if the serial number can be found elsewhere (on external packaging). I have tried and tried with the phoneline and just get cut off.

There is a barcode with a 12 digit and a 10 digit number. The 12 digit number starts with 11 so I am assuming this could be the right one and refer to the year but don't really want my French house going up in flames when we're not there (we would be leaving the fridge on) so I'd like to make sure really.

KatieWatie · 07/07/2011 15:21

Spoke too soon, finally spoke to a human at Beko who says if it was bought this year it's not affected.

That seems a bit of a wild statement because surely some retailers could be selling old models...

PaperView · 07/07/2011 18:45

KW - if they start 06 or earlier they are probably affected. Unlikely that retailers will be selling those ones still.

leafbird · 01/10/2011 20:35

we have an 07 (01-06 with our model no are at fault)serial no and have had many problems with the freezer over heating and cutting out and not working for a few days and then starting up again! They have sent out two letters one about nine months ago! They have known this has been a problem for long enough. Our model is not on the list, but we have had alot of problems with it,im not happy with it at all.
