aitch i was thinking about Ivan earlier. no doubt RB knew quite a lot being friendly with them, but i would also assume their phones were hacked.

teej · 12/07/2011 16:12

cage i'm seriously worried about data privacy too, to the extent i don't use loyalty cards. mse would be disappointed in me, i'm sure!

Pannus · 12/07/2011 16:12

I dealt with Piers when he was at The Sun and NOTW - he is being uncharacteristically quiet isn't he? I wonder why?

chipstick10 · 12/07/2011 16:13

I have a bit of a soft spot for joey jones (political comm) on sky news Blush

teej · 12/07/2011 16:14

Norman I would mostly like to know exactly why all this is coming out exactly at this point.
NC/NI wouldn't really be at the crux of it so as to facilitate a share buy-back at a comparatively knock-down price in order to cement their stranglehold on the company?

Georgimama · 12/07/2011 16:21

Murdoch's only partisan political agenda is the furtherance of Rupert Murdoch by backing the winning horse. He is not adverse to giving said horse a help over the finish line naturally, but he wants to be on the side of winners, and if he can have the perks of having played kingmaker all the better.

teej · 12/07/2011 16:24

Georgi agreed he will drop his natural politics in order to win - but it's about more than the perks of being kingmaker, he want to run the whole show, in effect.

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 16:24

The Independent have just suspended a writer J Hari. Must be linked I suppose?

bkgirl · 12/07/2011 16:24

teej...yesterday I took my 11 year old son to Clarks for new trainers and spent most of it looking at my android showing me up to the minute reports of what was going on (I did apologise to the clarks girl but it was around 4pm and all hell was breaking loose).
If Piers Morgan was indeed up to anything then the Americans will love that....his tweets are so hollywood darling.

AitchTwoOh · 12/07/2011 16:25

johann hari? for the plagiarism thing?

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 16:27

Yes him Pending investigation by a former editor I think. I don't 'do' twitter so friend sending me bits Don't think she is getting a lot done today at work!

mrsdonkeybucket · 12/07/2011 16:29

This all just gets worse. Sad

Why is it that news is being 'broken' so late ? Is it because we are all available all-day-all-night now, so we don't need to wait for the morning's papers (ha) to break significant news ?

Just wondered.

AitchTwoOh · 12/07/2011 16:30

might not be linked. he was in schtuck last week for plagiarism. whittam-smith will be investigating. wonder what it is?

NormanTebbit · 12/07/2011 16:32

it's on order order, the Hari thing

it's not linked

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 16:32

He lifted all those 'quotes' from various places and passed them off as parts of interviews. Would that be up for investigation when you look at the rest of the news atm?

TheCrackFox · 12/07/2011 16:35

I will start believing in God if Piers Morgan is sent to prison.

teej · 12/07/2011 16:36

johan hari thing is plagarism- specifically for a piece for which he won a journalism award iirc

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 16:39

TCF me too! I will have a bloody party too
