www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2002190/Glamour-model-Nicola-McLeans-cropped-T-shirt-exposes-little-flesh.html

I'm not exactly a fan but this is just so pointless, nasty and unfair.

She still looks pretty slim to me - its just an unfortunate angle but nasty piece.

But my god - did you see the Abby Clancy photos - honestly she looks amazing for 12 weeks post-baby - she most certainly won the genetic looks lottery.

darleneoconnor · 12/06/2011 13:46

the daily fail strikes again

mosschops30 · 12/06/2011 13:55

I have body issues, i weigh 8 stone but after 3 children the skin on my tummy looks like that. It wont go without surgery, nothing to do with weight!

What a fucking nasty piece, i would be mortified if someone took a pic like that of me and commented on it. Shes had two kids and is still slim, what point are they trying to make?

Ryoko · 12/06/2011 16:45

I know there is the ITC and OFCOM etc but is there anything for stupid newspapers/websites that we can lodge complaints with?.

If everytime some tabloid twat starts complaining that some bird isn't boney enough or is looking her age etc, while totally ignoring all the fat ugly toads that grace the pages and in most cases write the content we should all lodge a complaint with some sort of OFCOM for rags.

Butterbur · 12/06/2011 16:53

The DM has only a few cliche-ridden articles, recyclable on a regular basis - sometimes in the same issue.

blah blah bikini body

blah blah piling on the pounds

blah bla gorging on [insert food of choice] with lashing of [insert sauce of choice]

blah blah lindsay lohan

blah blah someone or other Kardassian

press Complaints Commission but when I looked at their Code of Conduct I couldn't, unfortunately see where this article would breach it.

GladlyTheCrossEyedBear · 12/06/2011 17:12

I did an experiment the other day where I looked at different articles about various attractive, slim celebs and even the ones where I thought noone could possibly have any negative comments to make sure enough in the comments there would be people saying 'too skinny/fat/plastic/orange/old/wrinkly/boobs too big/bum too big/tummy too big/not a 'REAL' woman'. Honestly, it seems women are just there to be judged on how they look and in what way they are lacking or deviating from some obviously impossible ideal.

I thought the article in questioon was disgraceful. It even said she should have looked in the mirror before leaving the house like she should be ashamed for unintentionally showing a stomach that wasn't completely smooth. And those who say she's a glamour model so should look perfect is talking bollocks. She wasn't at work, she's had two children and lost a load of weight. That's what happens to skin that is stretched. Although after reading that I've no doubt she'll feel forced to have surgery just to conform to the myth of how women SHOULD look after children/weight loss and make everyone who doesn't look llike that feel like a freak.

They certainly seem to get a lot of readers so some people must be keen to read this stuff. What decides that? Why do I read teh FT and someone else at
that? What made me interestd in X and other people in Y? Is it IQ level? Is it education? Is it how you're brought up?

GetOrf · 12/06/2011 18:13

that article was written by a complete bitch.

Xenia it is for the working class scummer and public school educated underclass with zero IQ. Presumably that is what you are getting at.

CeliaDeBohun · 12/06/2011 18:23

And that last sentence re 'she looks like she has recovered from her eating disorder' is just vile.

That jumped out at me too. Theres something almost gleeful about the way the whole article's written. I feel so sorry for her.

ohnororo · 12/06/2011 21:04

I think omnishambles put it perfectly "by saying she looks shit they are really saying we all look shit". My tummy certainly wouldn't stand up to that kind of scrutiny and I'm confident that most of the Mothers I know would say the same. This is what a post baby tummy looks like. It's like criticising someone for having a nose. I'm not a regular mums net poster but this really enraged me.

Vile 'report' but seeing these pictures has made me more positive about my body image.
Ive had 4 DC and my belly is flat but I have loose skin, nothing short of surgery will get rid of it, Ok Im never going to wear a bikini again but as someone else said I have bought 4 children into this worls is that not more important than doing a Toni Terry and posing about in a thong bikini ??

We need more real images in the public domain but without the criticism - more positvely if you read the comments attached to the article the majority are agreeing with us.

modelperfect · 11/07/2011 18:03

I think its disgusting that she cannot hide what she obviosly knows is there for all to see. I feel a bit sick looking at the picture.

IAmTheCookieMonster · 11/07/2011 18:09

I think she looks great! The daily fail needs to find some real news!

Purpleswimmingtiger · 11/07/2011 18:12

The Daily Mail posts yet another vitriolic piece about a woman's appearance.

Are we supposed to be shocked and surprised by this?

TheOriginalFAB · 11/07/2011 18:12

FFS it is skin. She has had a baby. Her skin has changed. She probably doesn't give a fuck. More pressure on kids and teenagers to look perfect Angry.

Empusa · 11/07/2011 21:55

"Why wear a crop top showing off your belly so soon after giving birth though?"

Oh of course, she should hide away. What a disgrace she is Hmm

You twat.

Frizzbonce · 12/07/2011 09:54

The messages are quite interesting though. Almost all of them point out what a nasty shabby piece it is and are you surprised that so many women hate their bodies when you constantly print stuff like this?

TotalChaos · 12/07/2011 10:05

absolutely vile article. poor lass has an eating disorder, and they write an article with photos zooming in on a minor physical "flaw". Along with many women I'ld be delighted to have a figure like Nicola McLean's.

porcamiseria · 15/07/2011 14:34

agree a particularly mean article, anyway its loose skin not stretch marks anyway! twats

exexpat · 15/07/2011 14:46
Hmm
CQrrrneee · 15/07/2011 14:48

modelperfect but not perfect spelling

exexpat · 15/07/2011 14:57

To avoid getting worked up about daily fail stories like this, can I just recommend kitten block? Much more soothing and good for the blood pressure.

CQrrrneee · 15/07/2011 14:59

kitten block looks brilliant Grin it won't break my computer will it?
