Just saw this - it came so close to disaster. Reminds me of when ds, then about 2, got his leg caught a London bus door while we were getting off. Driver just closed the doors on passengers getting off, so dh was still on board and I'd got off and was helping ds. Doors closed on his leg, bus driver starts to drive....fortunately those stranded on the bus yelled and he stopped quickly - no apology though .

terrifying

monkeytrousers · 11/11/2005 21:53

Liz's, did you not complain to the company? That is so shocking! We should all realise that all the details you need to identify the driver are on the ticket you get as you pay your fare. When was this. I'd still send in a complaint if I were you. I complained when a driver started to pull away from the bus stop before I'd properly gotten off the bus when I was 81/2 months pregnant. It was a direct act of intimidation by the bus driver because I wasn't being quick enough.

Really, we should NOT let them get away with it. COMPLAIN PLEASE!!

I feel another campaign coming..

before using the metro in Paris I briefed my kids on what to do after an earlier trip where I saw 2 american tourists seperated, they had their cases so looked like they had just arrived.

The sight of that that woman chilled me to the bone, I used trains alot when my 2 were small. Imagine that situation with a screaming child stuck on the train, on second thoughts don't .

i just saw this on the news, truely horrifying, the instinct to get the baby to safety was so clear, i was amazed at how quick she got him out, so glad she was ok as well.

LIZS · 12/11/2005 10:58

No I didn't complain at the time. Was so angry with myself afterwards for not taking his details but was so relieved that nothing serious happened and had to comfort ds during which time he'd driven off. It was a red London bus and we had travelcards so no easy way of tracing it back.

OMG, that is horrifying.

No where near ont hat scale obviously, but I hate the underground completely. last time we went to London me and DD, age 3, got on the tube. Dh and our two friends, with the buggy, were about to get on and with no warning the doors closed with us on the train and them off it. had no idea where I was going - had our friend screaming on top of his voice where to go. The other passengers were fab. DD was upset the train had left her daddy behind. Funny part of story is how odd DH and friends must have looked on next tube with an empty buggy!

I saw this on the news last night, I sat in shock, and had my hand over my mouth, barely breathing.

The tube is pretty dire, I remember once (pre-children), watching a woman with baby in a back carrier getting on the train...the mother got on fine, the doors closed before the baby was in though, I slammed on the emergency alarm thing.... I was shaking so much afterwards, the baby was thankfully unaware, as the doors opened again, but the mum was really grateful, all the other passengers were pretty shaken too.

There's also a family friend who's ds got off the train with his dad. The boy was wearing one of those coats that have little ties at the hood, his tie got caught in the train doors and the train left, friends ds couldn't get the coat off and passed away.... apparantly the obstruction in the doors was so small it didn't stop the train.....

thats so sad fuzzy

lanismum · 12/11/2005 12:17

this thread makes me even more scared of the tube, i rarely used it before i had my baby, now i never ever use it.
