Is there a Royal Wedding North/South divide?

Hello everyone,

Here's a thought... is there a Royalist divide between the North and South of the country?

"Would you send a wedding card to Prince William and Kate?" and "Will you be watching the wedding on TV"?

If you can spare a second to reply with your answers and share with your friends, it would be amazing! I am researching for the charity Dream It Believe It Achieve It, an initiative by the Disabled Sport Development Trust to enable paralympians to compete at the 2012 Olympics in London.

So:

"Would you send a wedding card to Prince William and Kate?"

YES/NO - are you in the North or South of England

"Will you be watching the wedding on TV?"

YES/NO - are you in the North or South of England

Please comment if you have a spare sec.

Best wishes to all,

Craig

Are you taking any interest in the Olympics?

As a northener, that's a big fat no. It's irrelevant to my life.

schroeder · 12/04/2011 19:57

usualsuspect · 12/04/2011 20:00

"Would you send a wedding card to Prince William and Kate?"
No (Confused)
To located me go west out of England, head straight through Wales (the top part is the most direct) get on a ferry once you've docked you'll find me around thereabouts.

"Will you be watching the wedding on TV?"
Maybe - if I'm in the house I'll certainly turn it on
You'll find me in the same place though I've just leaned slightly more to the right than I was before

mcfee · 13/04/2011 13:54

No

Yes

Scotland

notcitrus · 13/04/2011 14:36

No and no (south).
Won't watch it on telly - CofE wedding services are boring enough when it's your friends! Besides, I'll be busy making cakes for our street party (which is simply an 'any excuse for a party on this day off' party)

ebbandflow · 14/04/2011 10:37

No, and maybe a little peek on the tv, just to check out the dress.
North.

Hulababy · 14/04/2011 10:49

"Would you send a wedding card to Prince William and Kate?"

NO - North

"Will you be watching the wedding on TV?"

Not sure. Will probably cach a bit of it as 9y DD will want to see the dresses, etc. - North

GabbyLoggon · 14/04/2011 11:03

craig....More of a male/ female divide, I suspect. Women take more interest in other peoples weddings than men do....a lot of us chaps only go for the beer.

mrsbiscuits · 14/04/2011 14:07

Sending a card to 2 complete strangers is just odd.
I will not be sitting down to watch the wedding but neither will I go out of my way to avoid it - don't feel strongly one way or the other to be honest.

oh yeh....I'm in the South

justshootmenow · 15/04/2011 15:43

NO will not be sending card or watching it or attending any royal party. I'm up NORTH.
I'm sick to death of hearing about the royal wedding everywhere go ts rammed down your throat and I can't wait for it all to be over and done with.

itssnotfunny · 15/04/2011 15:47

celticlassie · 20/04/2011 21:08

Scotland.

Will people who don't know them actually send wedding cards? I honestly don't understand that.

chicaguapa · 20/04/2011 21:12

No
Yes
South

expatinscotland · 20/04/2011 21:14

No, I wouldn't send a wedding card to William and Kate or any other couple I don't know.

No, I will not be watching the wedding on TV and I'd not watch a wedding of a couple I don't know unless asked to serve as witness.

I am in Scotland.

NetworkGuy · 23/04/2011 09:20

Completely baffled as to the point of the questions, and why a charity associated with Sports for Disabled people would even be asking this.

Perhaps you, Craig, can clarify what the intention is, and why you chose Mumsnet to get a particular set of responses?

As another man indicated, there will be a gender divide too, but are you looking for some divide based on whether a parent cares for a disabled child or not? If not, what is the point?

What is the significance of sending a card to strangers whose needs are/will be provided for by the state throughout their future lives?
