I think it is a good thing for those who end up on the register for ridiculous reasons.
I once watched a documentary about it, and a young 18 year old lad mooned a policeman and got arrested - he was put on the register. He went to assist a woman who was sexualy assaulted by a would-be rapist and was distraught that the police looked at his record and thought he was 'trying to join in'.
It ruined his life, mooning out of a bus window aged 18. People like him should have the right to appeal.
Others have forfeited their rights, I am afraid, by the nature of their crimes.
As legal aid is going (almost) there wil not be a massive influx of state-funded appeals cases so it does not worry me. If people want to appeal, let them, and good luck.
