not really into this but impressed to see in Style section of ST a "parp". have they been infiltrated by MN? what is going on..

Thought you were alerting us to more irritating stuff in the ST which wouldn't have surprised me at all. Why anyone thinks it is a quality read is beyond me....

The article about the schoolgirl who was possibly laundering money.

They mentioned the fact that her favourite quote was "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". And then went on to expalin where the line came from.

doormat,parp is something recently engineered on MN.
If you see a topic that is liable to wind you up beyond belief,you interject with a 'Parp!!'
(Unsure however of exact etiquette re then recording your opinion after having submitted said parp.....)

I have always seen parping as merely a subject that will make you rant unreasonably, not as a way of expressing annoyance with people for posting.

I think it is malicious. If a thread is winding you up, why can't you stay off it? Why do you have to insert a rude word in the middle of someone else's conversation? Would you do that in reality?

Maybe you are right. But it looks rude. You could just stay away and not write anything at all. I still think it is rude to imply that you could go on and one but won't.

Maybe you are right. I just think it is unnecessary, but I do not have the same sense of humour as some here do. each to their own eh?
