not really into this but impressed to see in Style section of ST a "parp". have they been infiltrated by MN? what is going on..

Oh how funny!
Thought you were alerting us to more irritating stuff in the ST which wouldn't have surprised me at all. Why anyone thinks it is a quality read is beyond me....

(Was parping in correct context??)

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/10/2005 13:46

I haven't bought it for years and bought it today for a change.......................OMG it has dumbed down beyond belief.

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 09/10/2005 13:47

what bit?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/10/2005 13:52

The article about the schoolgirl who was possibly laundering money.

They mentioned the fact that her favourite quote was "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". And then went on to expalin where the line came from.

doormat · 09/10/2005 13:53

is a parp a fart

bosscat · 09/10/2005 13:59

I love the ST and think its a quality read! I'm out and I'm proud.

moondog · 09/10/2005 14:33

doormat, parp is something recently engineered on MN.
If you see a topic that is liable to wind you up beyond belief, you interject with a 'Parp!!'
(Unsure however of exact etiquette re then recording your opinion after having submitted said parp.....)

colditz · 09/10/2005 15:04

I have always seen parping as merely a subject that will make you rant unreasonably, not as a way of expressing annoyance with people for posting.

moondog · 09/10/2005 16:10

Yes colditz..it's not malicious is it,although I think there have been misunderstandings...

NelsonsGirl · 09/10/2005 16:22

I think it is malicious. If a thread is winding you up, why can't you stay off it? Why do you have to insert a rude word in the middle of someone else's conversation? Would you do that in reality?

moondog · 09/10/2005 16:24

No NG,you've missed the point!
I think for most people it's a way of saying
'God I could really go on here,but I won't!'

NelsonsGirl · 09/10/2005 16:44

Maybe you are right. But it looks rude. You could just stay away and not write anything at all. I still think it is rude to imply that you could go on and one but won't.

projectmanagerCOd · 09/10/2005 17:03

no you have missed the point
i get woudn up by poeple who think its ok to take holiday in term time
if a thread was started i'd parp myself on it as i know I am soooooo boring on it

projectmanagerCOd · 09/10/2005 17:04

p-s where in the st - havc it at home

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 09/10/2005 17:04

god i really need to parp myself on the depression threads

i do try and help but just end up pissing everyone off

projectmanagerCOd · 09/10/2005 17:05

saw you on there enid
life raft sinking spring ot mind

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 09/10/2005 17:05

oh well I do try

NelsonsGirl · 09/10/2005 17:11

Parp to you too then! If it isn't rude, you won't mind me saying it now.

projectmanagerCOd · 09/10/2005 17:12

oh no we LOVE it

NelsonsGirl · 09/10/2005 17:13

But not everyone does.

JoolsToo · 09/10/2005 17:48

Nelsonsgirl · 09/10/2005 18:11

Maybe you are right. I just think it is unnecessary, but I do not have the same sense of humour as some here do. each to their own eh?
