BFeeding in pubs?

here

The "well known pub chain" have apologized, but I'm Shock by some of the comments left. I've fed dd in several pubs when necessary - one local pub even runs a mum and baby coffee morning!

That Steve guy is certainly getting a hammering!

I guess the staff were mis-understanding - kids are only allowed in the restaurant section (by their license, this is fair enough) and they were trying to say that she was only allowed in the restaurant section if she bought a meal (not fair enough, she's a customer who can sit where she likes in an empty pub)

Those pubs during the day, now that there's no smoking, would actually seem like a perfect place to feed a baby - quiet, comfy chairs, drinks and food..

the well know pub chain are a bunch of wankers who treat their staff worse than their customers!!

You've got a point chunky and landlords always seem to be complaining that profits are down and pubs are closing.

It didn't really occur to me that some people would be offended and Hmm at the comment "if you want to feed in public buy a breast pump" have they any idea how long expressing takes!!

Well all I can say is that the comments on that site do not IME reflect the views of the general public. I bf my DD in pubs/pub gardens several times and never had any problems whatsoever from staff or other customers. The pubs in my local area are fairly welcoming to families and I found them a good place to sit and feed with a drink and a newspaper.

I too have BF in a number of pubs through the day over the years and no-one's batted an eyelid.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 24/01/2011 19:59

this isn't a BF issue. that pub has a rule taht children aren't allowed in unless you are buying a meal. i also think this was a setup.

Agree pozzled think (hope) its a minority.

MrsDr - are you still with the company? Suggest they run something like this [http://www.larwoodandvoce.co.uk/ here] and then click on Baby Cakes

I've been in that pub and was told my DS was only allowed in if we were buying food- was also told that they had a two drink rule if you were with children (presumably to stop parents taking their kids to the pub then getting ratted on cheap booze). I think it is to do with the terms of their license rather than them having anything against breastfeeding mothers, though they could've dealt with it more sensitively.

Opps
here

Yes the story is about the need to buy a meal, if you have children with you, but it's the comments other people have meal that I find shocking, as I have not encountered this myself.
