What will you do?

JonesTheSteam · 25/09/2005 20:56

Nothing I suppose - will still send her to school as the chances of her catching it probably quite remote - if she's going to catch she probably has already as it takes about a week to incubate.

She has had the 'talk' about hygiene in school and we've been keeping an eye on the washing of hands after toilet etc.

Don't suppose there's much more we can do!!

Pretty scary though, especially when you hear that some of the children have had kidney failure etc.

Can't believe the increase in the number of cases!!!

Another good reason for schools to cook their own food and not reheat pre-cooked stuff....
go Jamie Oliver!

I'd send her in with a packed lunch for a few days, Jones.

JonesTheSteam · 25/09/2005 21:16

No, DD doesn't have any other health problems and will probably be fine. She does have school dinners, but all the products (if there were any on the premises) supplied by the firm they suspect is responsible were removed and only hot meals are now being served.

Have no idea who the child is, as it was on the Welsh news tonight and DD's school was mentioned as having a suspected case. So it could be someone in her class, but we won't know until tomorrow.

princesspeahead - all the food that has come from the supplier suspected of causing this outbreak has been removed from the menus - I think any new cases now are going to come from contact with other infected children, not the food.

Do you really think it's worth making her a packed lunch instead?

depends whether (a) you really believe they will assiduously remove everything from this supplier (they probably will) and (b) whether you are confident that they have got the right supplier as source (the BBC seems to suggest that they aren't sure yet).

I'd give her a cheese sandwich and a yoghurt for a few days to be sure, personally

JonesTheSteam · 25/09/2005 21:24

Mmm - agree with you - the officials seem very circumspect about naming this supplier as really being the source.

Don't know what to do now - DH thinks there's no need to worry (he's Mr. Unflappable ) and that she should just have dinners as normal!!

How difficult is it to make her a sandwich! You could even tell DH that YOU will make it with your own fair hands, in case he thinks he has to do it! Dunno, just think it seems such a little thing to do for a bit more piece of mind. But that is just me...
