of course we are all in this together... especially millionaires who don't even realise or care that they have no clue how the other half lives.

So much for all that balls about how the Tories were no longer 'the nasty party'...

The over-leveraging was a greater contributor to the apparent "Irish miracle" that Osborne refers to than the low corporation tax.

Few are blaming the last government for the economic recession or seriously suggesting that Tory or LibDem government would not have had the same conditions to deal with. But a lot of us are very angry at the last government for setting out a strategy that assumed there would never be another recession.... and taxing us heavily to pay for that strategy. At best the 'end to boom and bust' rhetoric was naive, at worst it was irresponsible

Lord Young's comments were insensitve and factually incorrect. He was employed to advise on trade matters and has been sacked for having opinions at odds with the PM and cabinet....

Correct me if I'm wrong - but is Lord Y saying there's no recession? Aha! Just as I suspected. It's all an excuse for a bit of social engineering, then. So, no need for any cuts? Or should we ask those who are doing very well to pay a few more taxes?

Lord Y sacked for having opinions? I should think so too!

hmm is George Osborne's praise of the Irish economy as hilarious as Gordo's repeated assertion that he had eradicated boom and bust?

PelvicFloorTrauma · 22/11/2010 09:50

"Gordon Brown is of course to blame for the worldwide banking crisis. look at the mess he made of Ireland's economy. and Iceland. and Portugal. and Greece. naughty man."

One of the reasons for the varous crises is a worldwide bubble in certain types of asset, primarily property but also stocks, shares, art, and commodities like oil and gold. Gordo's culpability is that he left this country vulnerable to the bubble bursting with his imprudence.
