BBC news

Despite all the police looking for him, nobody I know has heard of this story yet.

This was all over the news earlier this week so well publicised, at least in London and on the national news I've seen/heard.

NonnoMum · 16/10/2010 23:00

Last I heard was that they think he might be abroad. V sad and strange.

MrsDinky · 16/10/2010 23:09

It's been on tea Hampshire/IOW section of the BBC website all week, very strange.

FrozenChocolate · 16/10/2010 23:11

I hope it's not going to be one of those stories that never get resolved. :(

I've had an eye out for him in Antwerp (although why he'd choose to come here is another question). Very sad, but, strange that the drug company initially said he would die within 24 hours, then 48 and now it isn't mentioned.
Hope he is found soon.

The picture looks like an E-fit.

I agree it sounds very odd what they have written, almost like a cover up for something else they want him for.

AMumInScotland · 17/10/2010 08:59

How very odd! You'd think a nurse involved in a malaria trial wouldn't go off without his life-saving medication Hmm

3littlefrogs · 17/10/2010 09:10

I agree with Frrrrightattendant. I think there is much more to this than meets the eye.

There are so many safety plans in place for clinical trials, I doubt that this has happened by accident. He doesn't want to be found.

MrsRichardArmitage · 18/10/2010 12:46

I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks there is a bit more to this. I said this to dh and he was Hmm
He thinks it's just that the man may die without the treatment, which I agree is serious but I am sure there are lots of people who don't get treatment for things or stop their meds and could be a risk to others or themselves and we don't hear about it

I always wonder about these sorts of stories. It reminds me of those radio broadcasts you hear very occasionally "Message for Joe Bloggs of Birmingham whose family can't reach you. Your father is dangerously ill, please call home". It always makes me think it is some sort of code because there must be lots of people who can't be reached when there is a family emergency, yet these sorts of broadcasts are very infrequent.

But I watch too much Spooks and see conspiracy everywhere...

However it does seem like this story could be as they say it is - family appeals, CCTV sightings and quite a lot of detail on the clinical trials etc. I do hope this guy is okay, if it really is as they say it is.

MrsRichardArmitage · 18/10/2010 13:30

Just started watching Spooks so I feel like I have a heightened sense of danger. Or paranoia?

Feenie · 19/10/2010 15:39

Well, we said there was possibly more to this:

Sorry - Dail Mail story alert

ZENZIZENZIZENZIC · 19/10/2010 16:26

Damn the Daily Mail is very addictive!

WhatsThatDuckDoingThere · 19/10/2010 16:29

I read about the clinical trial man earlier today and thought it was interesting that he was also being questioned about something else.

Those broadcasts on the radio when there is a sick relative. Do you think you hear them so rarely now because people have mobile phones these days? Grin

NonnoMum · 19/10/2010 17:30

Been found in the Netherlands.

Phew.
