thus meaning child benefit will be axed from £38 000 not £44 000?

Sorry if I'm a bit slow but still trawling through everything to see how it'll effect us.

From what I could read in the Torygraph the coalition said they would e changing the thresholds by 2015 so basically it's not 44 but 38.

Is that correct it's just I've not seen it mentioned much elsewhere,it seems to be mainly 44 mentioned.?

yes i think you are right because £44,000 is the current threshold for higher rate tax and will be lower once emergency Budget measures are implemented in 2011. i read this today. i was hoping that they would just call it that figure [44], but i guess thats why they are saying ''around 44k''[they have kept this quiet hoping people dont realise i guess].

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/10/2010 20:22

I'm afraid so, bringing a lot more people into the tax band.

whomovedmychocolate · 06/10/2010 20:25

Oh bugger. Guess I'd better sit on my arse more often then. Hmm

MilaMae · 06/10/2010 20:27

Why isn't this being mentioned more in the news?

isn't it currently 37400? its the adding of the personal allowance of 6745 that takes it to 44k ish

HowAnnoying · 06/10/2010 20:41

I found this

Like you say though, if this was the case it would be in the news more.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/10/2010 20:45

I don't know why its not in the news more - except there is an awful lot for the press to take in at the moment.

Last published income tax bands for the majority of people under 65 were announced in the June Budget as follows.

Personal allowance (0%) £6475 Tapered for people earning £100000+
Basic rate tax (20%) on income from £6475 - £34700
Higher rate tax (40%) on income from £34700 - £150,000
Additional rate tax (50%) on all income above £150,000.

Tax Bands

The tax in this country is a joke. No wonder the rich live overseas. Wish I could do the same

poppyknot · 07/10/2010 12:55

I think there's a bit about it in newspapers today. It was mentioned on some news programme last night

poppyknot · 07/10/2010 12:56

And HRP (or CLass 3 Ni payments as it is now) seems to be completely under the radar.
