Child Benefit Axes - SINGLE WORKING PARENTS

I am a single parent with one child (who has no financial help from my ex because he is unemployed. I have never claimed benefits apart from Child Benefit and have worked hard in my career to keep it that way. I wish I could stay at home with my son but cannot financial afford to do so and am forced to work full time and pay for childcare. I have a salary of 44k which means that come 2013, I will not be able to claim child benefit. I am just on the threshold so am greatly impacted by a loss of CB. I think it is wrong that a 44k earning sole breadwinner within a couple lose CB when 2 earners within a couple earning maybe 80k still reap the benefit, so the government should look to change this however please DONT FORGET SINGLE WORKING MUMS/DADS who aren't stay at home but will be impacted the same as stay at home mums/Dads. Single working parents have no help from a partner and are flying solo - we can do without this added pressure please !!

44 Grand?? In my dreams and many other peoples! Think you're going to have to accept it I'm afraid.

As another single working parent who will be affected by this change, I sympathise. However, we are still relatively well-off compared to a lot of people. It's two years before this change comes in and a lot can happen in that time.... You could increase your salary, your ex could get a job - all kinds of things.

Wow.

As a fellow single parent, with a mortgage and 3 children with a gross annual sum of approx £15,000 per annum (which is wages plus WTC/CTC/CB) I really feel for you...
