Social housing conditions

I'm a journalist hoping to speak to parents, families with experiences in poorly maintained/managed social housing.

I am doing a campaign raising awareness for how these conditions can exacerbate physical or mental health issues within families and compromise child development.

40% of children in social housing are already in poverty and these problems are complex, creating generational trauma and socioeconomic disadvantages.

If you have any personal experience with this or grew up in such conditions please leave a comment or message me privately. I can show you my credentials and you can remain anonymous as well.

We haven’t even got this far. Our local council has told my son (young adult) he has priority needs when he has phoned or attended for emergency housing.
They then phone back at end of the day when it is too late to recontact them and advocate for him, telling him he is not priority. this has happened on two separate days. We are desperate, heartbroken ; it’s last chance saloon and I want to know he is securely housed and no longer a suicide risk.
The person on the end of the phone told us “you’re the ones kicking him out.”
We are now paying for an hotel because he cannot stay in the family home and is vulnerable due to MH and a skin condition.
The money for this will run out soon.
If this was an area to shine a light on, I would be happy to engage, but if not, no worries.
