i have an elec key meter and i put in £40 a week, ive had loads of "conversations" with e-on but they say its about average for a 3bed semi, we cook on elec, have a fish tank, hot water, washer (no dryer) no dish washer but use a laptop and have 3 tvs and 1 xbox. i think i pay too much compared to the avereage monthly cost of around £45p/m by direct debit. it works out to £2080 p/a, they say (e-on) that im just "consistant" with my amounts i pay! id like to know what others on key meters pay p/w...by the way there are 6 of us in the household.

How long do you have your hot water on for? I believe running your hot water by electric is very expensive.

3 bed semi, 2 adults (me and my Brother) 4 children. PC is on all day as my Brother is on it. Dishwasher, washing machine, elec cooker, laptop, TV etc and we only use £10-£20 a week. Heating/hot water is gas though but still think that is pretty low elec costs. (Gas this time of year lasts ages)

thanks for the reply's..we dont have gas here we have oil for c/h and water, but using it to do the water i dont find very economical,so i use the elec for 1 hr in the morning,1 hr at 4pm and then from 6.30-8.00pm in the evening so we can have our showers.

that does sound expensive then. If you have recently moved in , make sure you are not paying off somebody elses debt. If not, look for a new supplier.

we pay £120 a month for gas and elec, very rarely use the dryer, everything gets switched off at the plug at night except the fridge and freezer and we use energy efficient lightbulbs everywhere apart from our bedroom and kitchen. We have a 3 bed semi and our bills tend to even out over the year so we dont get behind.
