So I took your advice and decided against a Dyson

and I have been looking at Miele instead.

Now the ones with over 2000 motor seem to be the pull along type ones rather than an upright.

If you use a pull along one, how do you find it? Is it not a bit backbreaking hoovering? I've got a 4 bedroomed house to get through.

Likely to go for either the pull along 2200 motor pet or the upright pet but that one only has 1800 motor.

Thanks,

A few yeras ago whne my Dyson packd up I opted for a Meile in the 2000 range.

Far less back breaking that a heavy dyson when lugging it upstairs for a start, also it has on off button and a button to retract you lead that you can push with your foot.

We have hard floors all downstairs and it is great for that and so much easie now to hoover the stair carpet.

I would never go back to a dyson now.

My local electrical repair shop had a back room full of broken Dyson that people need repairing for one thingor another.

No useful advice Im afraid as I have just ordered a bissell pro heat all rounder.

However John Lewis have got an excellent offer on Miele- 10 year guarnantee for additional £30- could be worth it for additional peace of mind.

Never had a Dyson so can't complain but just got a Miele and it's fab. Think it's the 2200w one but not the pet hair one. Rarely have to use it on full power as the suction is so strong.

Can't compare not complain. Pregnancy brain.

I have a Miele pull along. I think it's the best I've had.
My mother can't understand it as she has a dyson, but I find that cumbersome.

Rafi · 05/07/2010 14:06

We love our pull along Miele & no, not backbreaking at all - the tube goes to whatever height you need. It's great for stairs, tops of doors, anything

Butterbur · 05/07/2010 14:07

Mostly the pull-along part just trundles behind me, and is no problem. It's really easy to change tools to a brush or nozzle to get down cobwebs, or brush off the sofas.

You can adjust the length of the pipe part, so that it's the right height for you, so you don't break your back.

Listen to me! Anyone would think I actually did housework.

I love my Miele. Best vacuum cleaner I have ever had - and I've had plenty!!

Coolio folks. Thanks.

I hate uprights, we have a loft conversion and lugging an upright up those narrow stairs to hoover DS bedroom was back breaking! now i have henry i can lift him up with ease, my advice would be to go with a pull along type for stairs and if you are moving from room to room.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 06/07/2010 10:47

We have a Miele cylinder and I find it much better than a stand up cleaner. Much much lighter - you think it would be harder as you have to bend a little but the uprights are so heavy. We have the cat and dog - had it 2 years and it works like new. Looks like crap (I am mean with my appliances, it's rather bashed) but works wonderfully. Dysons are crapola.

Sherbert37 · 06/07/2010 10:55

I too have the Miele Cat and Dog, replacing a Dyson. It is fab and will be with me for at least 10 years thanks to the guarantee.

I am tall and have never had a pull along before but it is fine. Also very quiet compared to my ancient Dyson. The bags do work out quite expensive though but are far less messy to change than emptying a cylinder.

Go for it!

I have a Miele Cat & Dog too - I absolutely love it! I use it for all the dusting as well as hoovering, just using the little brush etc for blinds, skirting boards, bannisters etc...

The best thing is that you've got everything with you already in the hoover, so if you want to swap heads quickly you don't have to go back to another room.

It's also got a really long cable so you don't have to keep moving plugs.

Best hoover I've had, much more suction than the Dyson by a mile.
