I really can't have one of those see through ketlles in a hardwater area can I?

My kettle broke yesterday so I need to shop for a new one ASAP. I really fancy a see through glowing one but suspect it would get immediately limescaley

DH is talking about kettles that only boil the amount you need in a very quick time (I've not heard of these myself)

Any advice or recommendations?

We have a see-thru (glass kettle). Prestige.
Just descale it once a week with vinegar (or less often).
At least you can see when it needs descaling and don't forget about it!
We have the 2nd hardest category water (Anglia water).

The eco-kettles aren't so good, can't remember what I've read, but I wasn't impressed.
An insulated kettle would be good, though.

Microwave is the most efficient way of all to boil just what you need, btw.

Be careful boiling water in the microwave, it's a very dangerous thing to do. Fine bubbles when displaced, for example by adding a spoon or simply tapping the cup as you place it on a work top can literally cause the boiled water to bubble up very violently and give you a nasty burn.
