I want a really clean floor

Urgh, my kitchen floor.

I do make a stab at mopping it once a week and it gets swept every day - but it's never clean.

It's a big kitchen/diner and is predominantly black tiles, with the odd white one, which are ridiculous (always seem to look grubby).

What's the best way to give it a really good clean - do I need to get on my hands and knees?

At the moment I either sweep or hoover (although neither seems to get all the bits up) and then mop with flash liquid and a vileda super mop.

I think I just move the dirt around.

This is the dullest thread ever isn't it!

I would say, if you really like it clean - hands and knees.

But since I hate doing this, I sweep probably every day (amazing for me) and mop perhaps once a week with an E-mop which is the BEST. I have two wet-mopping cloths which just go in the hot wash after mopping, but you can also rinse them really well during the mopping.

Ooh that looks good. But it is £30 for a mop. Not sure I can bring myself to do it

They certainly used to sell them in Homebase, why not go and have a look at them? Very hard to spend this amount online, I agree.

I promise you though, you will love your gleaming floor and spotless recently washed mop head - other mops are just disgusting dirt re-arrangers IMO.

Having said that, a rag and 3 minutes on your hands and knees will do the job better for 0 money - maybe time yourself doing it?? Drying it off using rags on your feet is quite fun...

The problem is your black tiles. Trust me I know

The solution is not to leave any product on there. I use a microfibre string mop, wet with cleaning products and after it's dried I remove any streaks by buffing the floor using a flat microfibre mop, dry.

It's lovely and clean until someone walks on it. I am considering making every one wear microfibre shoes covers when they enter the house, but this might be a bit much no?

To keep it looking relatively okay I wet mop every other day and buff with flat mop a couple of times a day i.e after cooking, washing up etc.

What about one of those steam things, they're always on QVC and always seem to work for the demonstrator, maybe I am too gullible but they look pretty good?
