Are they worth the money? I mean can I really justify spending quite a lot of money to have nicer, healthier bread or should I search harder for nice bread from a shop?
Will the bread slice thinly for packed lunch sandwiches?

I would say a definate yes for the healthier bread bt. When I look at bread ingredients on shop bought loaves now it's staggerring as to what goes into them.

Plus it's so cheap - barely no cost to run, and flour and yeast are so cheap.

I've had mine about 2 years and it's soop worth the initial layout. And when you can so different breads, pizza dough, and cakes too ()

Yes - definitely healtheir, and yes you can slice it with the aid of e.g. bread slicer guide thing or more expensive machines that actually slice the bread for you. They supposedly pay for themselves in a year. Go for it!

Once you start eating it you will be converted as it tastes so much better. Also it works out cheaper over time so long as you are comparing your homemade bread with a quality shop bought loaf.

On the down side though it doesn't keep for as long as shop bought bread; fewer preservatives no doubt. The other down side is slicing it well takes practice and I've not really mastered it yet. I tend to slice wonky doorstops. If you are buying a Panasonic breadmaker then you can make a dough which you can then shape into rolls for packed lunch. My grandparents always bought unsliced bread and used a bread slicer, ideal but I've not found one yet.

We don't have the dilemma that it doesn't last as long...It gets snarfed pretty much as soon as it's cooked

argh. I hate decisions.
The panasonic one sounds great. I am so tempted. Guess I will sleep on it.
