Rug doctor and crawling baby

I'm thinking of hiring a Rug Doctor for our carpets. The thing is, DD is crawling, and I'm a bit worried about how chemically it leaves the carpets. Can anyone who's used it advise?

ive hired one before , think the trick is to use less shampoo than directed , because it will be more dilute , so less likely to leave high concentrations of chemicals . . . .and you will find the carpet wont get as dirty as quickly afterward ... carpet shampoo residue can act like a magnet to dirt.
Have you thought of getting a steam cleaner instead? ... leaves carpets clean, kills dust mites ,mould spores and bacteria, removes odours, can rejuvinate carpet pile and leaves no chemicals behind.

We used the rug doctor with a crawler and it was fine.

As far as I know the chemicals used in the Rug Doctor shampoos are child and pet friendly.

I thought rug doctor was a steam cleaner? I love it. The chems aren't strong at all. Keep the baby away from cleaned area for a while, as it's quite damp (but dries quickly. But it smells fresh and soapy, not chemically like those professional ones do. The carpets stay clean for ages and look like new, and the house smells fresh. But it is quite physical work. tiring. So get someone to keep an eye on the kids or share the cleaning job with someone.
