Ironing help needed!

Hello Domestic Goddesses,

I am just packing to go on holiday and as part of the holiday am going to a friend's wedding. I have a lovely long maxi dress to wear but it creases terribly in my case and I have no idea how to get the creases out. It has a full length under layer of satin and over the top is a light floaty chiffon. All of the labels are cut out as it is a designer dress that I got in a outlet shop which cuts all of it's labels out- helpful! So, I don't have any idea if it will be ok to iron or what else I can do to get the creases out... any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks in advance ironing gurus

Hang it up in bathroom and turn on the shower. The steam will help the creases fall out. It's the only 'ironing' I ever do

You can buy travel steamers

I would iron it, leave it hanging up until it's cooled (cos otherwise it retains heat and creases more in the suitcase) then probably turn it inside out to pack.

If you've go lightweight stuff to go on the top layer of you suitcase (knicks, bras etc), put the bottom or top of the dress in first, then layer carefully with underwear, then fold the remaining part of the dress over the top. Put tissue paper or a small towel on top before zipping up your case.

If it's too wide to fold in neatly, or you can't do the folding thing as above with underwear or whatever, fold it lengthways first (after turning inside out)then fold to fit your suitcase, interspersing each fold with tissue paper (or similar). The idea is to make sure each fold isn't a sharp crease but more rounded, iyswim.

Failing that- get a travel iron and take a muslin which you can dampen and iron over.

FWIW I have never found that hanging it in a steamy shower room will remove creases, but it's also worth a go.

Iron over a teacloth and when its cold, fold it with tissue paper which helps keep creases out.

And iron inside out. Don't let the iron touch chiffon. It sounds lovely btw.
