Arrggh - inflating food prices

Is it just me or is everyone else's weekly food shop getting more expensive?

It seems that prices are rising on a weekly basis. I know that inflation is on the increase, but surely not so much as to make some prices increase by 10% in the space of a few weeks .....

Time to start cutting back again

Yes. I can't get it under £100 and if I do my DP takes one look at the weekly shop, walks out and comes back with another £30 worth of treats I'd not bought!

Some people on here say they spend only £35 a week for a family. I want their list...

I had def noticed my bill going up substantially recently.

Me too racingheart. I have no idea how people are managing to do that with prices as they are.

Yes, definately going up. We are a family of 4 and used to spend around £85 per week. The last few weeks it has been nearer the £100 mark. I have compared my shops (I shop online so previous orders are saved on my account) and I am not buying more / more extravagent items / more treats. Definately.

Some have gone up by much more than 10%. Its like a stealth tax!

Yes, I spent £140 yest, Monday I spent £30, and hubby bought some bbq stuff on sat - £40 a massive total £210!

I really cant do £100 per week. We tend not to eat out so we buy a few bottles of wine so that £12-£20.

I really dont understand, I dont waste anything. I dont buy silly stuff, but I have to buy at least 4 bottles of hi-juice squash a week but thats cheaper than pop. Quality bread, plenty of fruit and veg.

I buy loo paper/kitchen roll/bleach/washing powder etc from the wholesaler and put it throught he business and still I'm struggling to keep it down.

I used to be able to estimate my trolley by the number of items ie usually worked out £1 per item - you can usually buy 80 items = £80 - £90 but I would prob double this now.

Fuel prices, manpower, general overheads have to be added on to each item. As ex-farmers the price paid for meat at the top of the foodchain is still too cheap but the supermarkets are selling at a premium - there is only one winner - MR TESCOS - I wouldnt shop anywhere near there, after the way they have treated producers. And there way they try and make everyone their best friend sickens me...rant over"!!
